If you are looking for a good board for speed or distance paddling, this is not it. It is a good, solid board, but being so heavy, it is definitely limited. I was surprised at how unstable I found it. Some of my family, who do not paddle tried it, and ended up just using it as a kayak, because they could not stand up on it. As I said, it is very solid and strong; you are going to have difficulty denting it, but that of course comes at the cost of the weight. Bottom line really is that you get what you pay for. This would be a good introductory board, but if you want something that will perform better, you need to pay more.

I thought I'd chime in and offer a review of this SUP - as there isn't a lot of information out there about it.I bought mine about 8 months ago after doing a TON of research. We live in the midwest, so many of the bodies of water I use it in have submerged trees or branches. Because of this, I decided not to get one of the lighter weight "Foam" core boards - for fear of getting a hole punched in it or a crack - something you should keep in mind if you plan to use it in lakes and streams often. The trade-off for the security of having a virtually indestructible SUP is weight - it is pretty heavy, and lifting it onto the roof of my car takes a good amount of strength. I am going to buy a Malone MicroSport trailer to haul it around with next month, so that will be much easier on the back.Like the other reviewer said, once it is in the water, the weight is no longer an issue. It just glides and is so pleasant to ride on. The foam pad on top feels great on your feet. It is fairly smooth, but does not get slippery at all when wet. The front bungee system is excellent for carrying things along. Build quality of the entire SUP is AMAZING. You can tell it will last forever if it is treated well.3 main selling points for me: 1) The seat backrest. 2) The sleek design. 3) Indestructible build material/quality.1) When sitting down and using the backrest, it is surprisingly comfortable. The notches for your heels to fit into while sitting creates a very ergonomic situation, and although the foam where your "rear" will be isn't super cushy, it is very comfortable. If you plan to sit for a long time, I am thinking a small foam pad or gel pad would be good. However, since it is an SUP, I simply stand back up if I am tired of sitting down.2) The sleek design means it cuts through the water nicely. I don't know how much faster it is than other SUP's, as this is the only one I have ever used, but it seems to move very well, and tracks straight while it glides.3) It is made from the same material normal kayaks are made from - impervious to holes or cracks. But, again, it is heavy.I feel it is very stable. Often I fish while on it (both standing or sitting), and find that it is a blast! We own kayaks, and frankly never use them anymore, so we are selling them because the SUP experience is so much better.I plan to install a Scotty Mount for putting fishing pole or various other accessories on it.Basically, this SUP purchase is one of the best purchases I have ever made, and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who may use it in similar situation as I do.I will update this review in October. We are going to Folly Beach, SC and I plan to use it in the surf, as well as backwater crabbing and fishing. I will let you know how it performs in the surf.-------- Update --------OK, so here is the update ...6 months late........The Speeder did really, really well in the backwaters of South Carolina - Folly Beach near Charleston. One thing confirmed, the water tight storage container is absolutely NOT water tight. You cannot keep a phone, wallet, or anything in there, as they will end up floating in water. I put my phone in a water tight container, and it ended up just floating in the storage area. The really good thing is that the board itself performs great in the rougher waters. It rides low, so a fair amount of water will flow across the top when big waves or wakes from boats hit you, but if you have good balance, you can navigate the Speeder very well. The foam pad does not get slippery, so grip isn't an issue. However, when I was on the water, I used a very light pair of running shoes (7 oz) because of all the oyster beds that were around - if you did happen to fall off, your feet would be destroyed by the sharp oyster shells that are prevalent in the area. The board tracks so well, even going against the current, or against the tidal flow, you can maintain a very nice pace and track. And since mentioning the oyster beds, with the build quality of this board, I didn't have to worry about ruining it by hitting submerged oyster beds or barnacle encrusted docks/moorings. On one particular day, I went out when I should't have and had to battle against the outgoing current and extremely high winds which blew me up against a large dock that was completely encrusted with barnacles and various rough growth. I was stuck getting bashed against one of the dock posts for about 20 minutes before someone came to pull me off of there, and all my board had to show for it was a few scratches. On a foam board, that would have been a disaster.One thing I was very comfortable with, was beaching myself up against a sandbar, or various areas on the shore to do some fishing. This board is made like a Kayak, so you can treat it as such. I was able to catch stingray, redfish, sea trout, and other miscellaneous fish and not worry about the board at all. The tie down area is great for attaching a cooler, tackle box, or whatever you want to attach.I have paddled up to 6 miles on it at a time, and it is just a true joy. Just buy it and enjoy it, you won't regret it.Essentially, if you are looking to paddle in tough conditions, in waters that have a lot of obstacles, or even in rivers or streams, this would be a great board for you. Just bring a water tight storage device for your valuables, and don't count on the built-in storage.I love my Speeder and would highly recommend it to anyone who plans to do more than just paddle a lap around a small lake or pond.

For several years I've been wanting to buy a kayak to go with my canoe, which I can paddle alone but wanted something better for solo trips. Then a recent trip to the beach made me aware of paddleboards. I couldn't decide between an SUP or a SOT - until some internet surfing made me aware of Imagine Surf's products. I couldn't find many reviews, but the ones I did find were positive, so I took a chance.I have only had it out once so far, but I'm quite pleased with the performance. The wind was pretty strong, but even with the handicap, it moved about quickly and tracked straight. The construction seems solid and I had no damage from shipping whatsoever. One thing: this board is HEAVY! My 14' canoe weighs only slightly more. Once I was in the water though, the weight was no longer an issue. After a few hours of practicing, I was scouting around pretty well. I had expected to fall in a few times, but the Speeder is very stable, so I never tumbled in.My only other complaint is that the price just dropped on Amazon a week after I bought it! Ugh...
