4" wedge I'd been looking for but didn't know it
Okay, to be honest, this would be even better with a high quality 100% cotton pillowcase, but this wedge, LIKE EVERY OTHER WEDGE WE OWN, has a thin, poly-cotton, nasty zip off cover. I'm reviewing this wedge for function, and compared to others like it on the market, not against a fantasy object that might be more perfect but doesn't seem to exist.First of all, we own three of these particular Hermell Products wedges (used like a headboard across a King size bed) at 4" tall; one 12" wedge for when someone's reflux is acting up (hardest to sleep on!); two 7.5" wedges that we replaced with this size; and two very shallow wedges designed for a baby crib that are used side by side across the head of a Double bed. All of these wedges came with similar, thin, zip-off poly-cotton covers, except for the baby crib wedges, which have a plastic/waterproof exterior similar to that of standard crib mattresses. Dex Safe Lift Universal Crib Wedge Why so many wedges? Well, it started because someone has reflux, and that can be very painful, especially when lying down, trying to sleep. I ordered the first wedge upon his doctor's advice. Then, later that year, when one of the kids caught cold, we realized the wedge was also helpful for easing breathing during respiratory infections. The really tall wedge often leads to kids slumping down and sleeping sideways across their beds, however, necessitating middle-of-the-night child re-orientation. (I ordered two lower-height 7" wedges during that cold & flu season.)In between illnesses, where to store these large, ugly pillows (in their ugly, cheap poly-cotton covers?) I found myself flipping them up on the short, flat end and using them as a backrest in our bed. I discovered that "Euro" square shams would squeeze onto the 7" wedges if I folded down about an inch of foam at the narrow end (and could tolerate a gap on the tie-side at the widest point. That looked almost intentional, but two wedges didn't stretch across the entire King bed, which offended my aesthetic sensibilities and also left a gap where stuff could fall behind the bed. I searched for--and found!--this 4" wedge size, and they fit, UNFOLDED in matching Euro shams, cover the entire 6 feet width of the bed, and are always on hand if someone needs to turn them around to sleep with his or her head elevated. On two other beds in our home, we use the wedges UNDER the mattress to elevate the head of the bed, thus allowing the sleeper to use a regular pillow and case against the skin. On the double bed (using roughly 1.5" baby crib wedges), you don't even notice the elevation of the head when you walk into the room. Using a 7" wedge under a (latex) twin mattress results in an obviously elevated head of the bed, so that wouldn't work for someone who cares more about the appearance of the bed than the function. As a heavy user of these objects, I do zip off and wash the covers regularly (some shrink, most don't), but mostly we avoid sleeping directly on the cover, treating it more like a mattress pad than like a sheet. Most of us like our regular pillow, for softness, ON TOP of the wedge. For a kid who doesn't want that extra height, I'll put the wedge under the bedsheets, or tuck an extra flat sheet (or thicker blanket or even a towel if it's a stomach illness) around the wedge for extra protection. If you're going to use your wedge all the time and don't want to fuss with loose covers, try a Euro sham. Since that big square size is less popular, you can often find inexpensive ones in discount stores.

Just enough elevation
This wedge combined with a My Pillow has eliminated my husband's snoring. It has also improved his acid reflux. The beauty of this lower wedge is that you can use your pillow with it and you can easily turn over on it. You are not always ending up at the bottom of it, which was my husband's problem when he tried to use 2 pillows.

Instant Back Relief
I tried the 7 and 8 inch wedge and they were too high and I felt like I was on a sliding board. Tried this one because it was inexpensive and it is perfect.

Good quality foam. Cover fits perfectly
This is the perfect way to raise the head of a mattress on a platform bed. I bought two to use on a queen size mattress and placed them directly under the bottom fitted sheet. Quick solution to aid the treatment of acid reflux.

Excellent comfort and heartburn relief.
This slant is well made and provides a very comfortable surface. I have acid reflux (severe, frequent heartburn) so sleeping with my head and shoulders elevated is required. I found the 12 inch and 7 inch slants too high and uncomfortable. This 4 inch one is just right.

Getting used to having this. Great for reading in bed.
I have a Hiatal hernia and need to be raised a little for sleeping. Most wedges and too high. This one is just right.

Perfect height
The height is adequate to prevent gastric reflux and high enough to reduce swelling in sinuses and promote drainage.

Perfect height wedge when using in combination with a wedge under the mattress
First, shipping was FAST--and product arrived carefully packaged. This is being used on top of the mattress in combination with a 7 inch wedge under the mattress to help combat GERD symptoms at night while sleeping. Other wedges were too high. This one is the perfect height. Reliable seller. Great product.
