The Wonky Donkey

Loved it - what a funny book that my baby loves! As the pages go on more and more words rhyme and it makes story time so fun. Was pleasantly surprised to enjoy this book so much!

I bought this book after seeing a Grandma on Tiktok read it to her grandson. It was so cute! The story is an easy read and really funny. Good luck with the tongue twisters!

Very funny and cute

My 4 year old absolutely LOVES this book! He quickly memorized the entire book and loves to “read along” every night.

We love this book! The story builds on itself as a fun,goofy tongue twister. The book came in excellent condition. We are gifting this one since we love ours so much. We have had our book for a few years now and my kids still request it for bedtime. We all get a little chuckle out of it and have created some fun memories as each kid tries to say the tongue twister faster than the other.

I watched that Youtube vid that's all the rage right now, the one showing a Scottish grandmother reading this tale of a wonky donkey. Had me in stitches, so I purchased the book. Actually, I purchased 4, because I want each of my kids to have one for when they have kids and also two to give away as gifts. However, even though the story is quite fun to read and will probably get a lot of laughs, I am realizing that calling someone with one less leg than normal as wonkey might be construed as insensitive. Then, again, I think we've become a society of entitled people, where anyone can take offense to anything and if they squawk loud enough, heads can roll. I'm not one of those, but if you're uber-sensitive about labels, even in a fun, play-on-words storybook such as The Wonky Donkey, you might not find it funny. Also, it was rather disturbing to see the bird in the story carry the donkey's 'lost eye' back to its nest. That was rather macabre...and kind of funny, too. Haven't decided which way I want to feel about it. There's also one fart joke. Wonky Donkey apparently has a flatulence issue, which explains why he's 'smelly'. The story is hilarious and fun to read, despite the aforementioned shortcomings. In truth, the three-legged, one-eyed donkey might become a favorite with children who are likewise encumbered, as well as with older adults who might have a - - - um- - - different kind of handicap. :-D It might even create a good foundation for some enlightened discussions about people with handicaps and how not to draw attention to someone with a socially awkward problem.

I have ordered this book for friends, it is extremely funny. My Great Niece and she loves it. Well worth the money. I have even ordered it for some adult friends. They have read it for their grand-children. This is one book you should add to your collection!

Such a fun and charming story — my daughter can’t get enough of it! The rhyming and silly humour make her giggle every single time we read it. It’s become a bedtime favourite in our house, and she even tries to say some of the lines herself now. The illustrations are bright and funny, and it’s one of those books parents actually enjoy reading too. Perfect for little ones who love animals and rhyming stories. Highly recommend — pure joy from start to finish!
