Baby Oceanographer (Baby Scientist, 1)

I bought Baby Oceanographer and Baby Astronaut for my two year old granddaughter. She loves them both and is fascinated by the pictures and the new concepts. The back coves of each book has a little picture of the cover of other book, which she thinks is really neat. The books are easy for her to open and "read" by herself (before she demands that a grown-up read it with her). I'm eager to see the rest of the series when it comes out.

I studied oceanography in college and was SO excited to find this book, so my expectations were probably too high. The text on each page is short (like 1 sentence) and there weren't as many references to oceanography concepts that I would have liked, so my initial reaction was mild disappointment, buuuuut... the simplicity is part of what my kids love about it (they're 20 months). The images are colorful but not over crowded and the boys love finding/pointing out baby, or Mr. Crab, or the fish on each page. We spend like 2-3 minutes on a page practicing identifying things or colors, and this has made it one of their favorites that they pick up and request to read often. If your kids are into that kind of thing, then you'll love the book too!

Baby Oceanographer and Baby Astronaut have become my go-to gifts for new babies! The bright illustrations and engaging text draw in the youngest of readers and introduce them to careers in the field of science. Love this series and can’t wait for the others to come out!

I love the books in this series. They explain big concepts in ways that even my one year old can understand. I recommend this book, and the other three in the series as well!

I loved this book and just bought a second copy to gift, along with the newly released astronaut one in the series. Kudos to Laura Gehl for another pulls-you-in, fun book for both child and parent to enjoy reading. I also appreciate the skilled illustrations in the series, including the representation of diverse races and ethnicities.

Fun book for toddlers with bright pictures. Lots of new vocabulary and facts.

This book is the perfect introduction to the ocean and oceanography.Older kids will enjoy learning the science facts while younger kids will love the illustrations.Highly recommend as a gift!

Bought this for my grandson whose mum is a marine biologist. They both love it.
