Review: Works great - Great for stained glass work!
Review: What is the Hakko fx-601-01 ? - I bought the Hakko fx601-01 to figure out what it is. The description is accurate however not conclusive. This is a soldering iron made for use in Japan. The electric in Japan is 100 volts and depending on where you are in Eastern or Western Japan 50 or 60 hertz We will assume, for the sake of argument, that when this is purchased and fulfilled by desertcart in the US, we have purchased an Authentic Hakko product made for the Japan market. To be clear the Hakko fx601-1 (Japan market) is the same as the Hakko fx-601-2 (US market). The difference is where it's used and how it's adjusted. The replaceable ceramic heating element "Hakko A1600" for either market is exactly the same. In the US we use 120 volts which results in a higher wattage soldering iron. Volts x Amps = Watts Higer Watts will not make the iron better, tip temperature is what matters. To keep the fx-60101 soldering iron from overheating and probably failing before it should in the US you'll need to: 1.) Convert 120 volts to 100 volts. You'll need a step down transformer rated at 200 watts or more. (NO fiddling required, Just plug into 100 volts and it should work perfectly) 2.) Use the Adjustable calibration. Turn the + CAL screw Counter Clockwise before you plug in the iron to 120v. Set your temperature to 360 Celsius. (360*C should be approximately correct temperature that a Hakko fx601 starts melting 50/50 solder) plug in the iron and melt some 50/50 solder. If it doesn't melt simply turn you CAL screw clockwise at 1/16th of a turn until it does. That should get ya real close. Also want to point out the wrench that most people are unable to figure out. It works by removing the temperature knob to expose where the wrench fits. It's used to reduce the chance of changing the temperature by accident. Conclusion great soldering iron. All of this information is available on the Hakko web site. Hopefully I've made it easier to understand.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: You are aware I suppose that the 601-01 is not made by Hakko & is a fraudulent item correct?**
A: Yes, I bought this iron, and upon noticing it is not the wattage that Hakko advertises, I wrote them and they said this is a counterfeit item, not make by them. they do not make a fx60101. the seller not amazon will do anything about it, since it is beyond the return date.

**Q: It's for 23v?**
A: It's not a Weller it's a Hakko, 23v is Weller brand.Hakko has a temperature controller built into the soldering iron but this is the best iron I have ever used I plan to keep it for a very long time

**Q: What is the difference between this iron and fx601-02? what is the warranty? how do i get warranty service if necessary? thank you.**
A: The only difference between these FX601-01 and FX601-02 is the 01 comes with one solder tip and the 02 comes with 2 solder tips you need to change the tip, if your using the iron for stained glass projects you will need to find a 3/16 T19-d5 soldering tip. This the best soldering iron on the market to buy and is worth every penny just using it once you will be convinced it’s comfortable to hold and it melts solder very well don’t get this model confused with FX602 for the iron is used for only electronics

**Q: What soldering tips will fit the FX601-01?**
A: T19-C65 Bevel Tip
