CMSRN Exam Prep 2020-2021: A Medical Surgical Nursing Study Guide with 450 Test Questions and Answers (3 Full Practice Tests - Med Surg Certification Review Book)

Though I personally am not taking the exam, I do have a few friends who are constantly discussing it and worrying about passing. I thought I would impress them with my knowledge in helping them study, since they have had me helping them with their questions and studying in the past. Plus, my perspective as an educator, both K-12 and university level, and my own experience with similar education based exams, has helped me to be able to read and in my opinion, honestly evaluate the study guide itself. As for content, I cannot say how well this prepares you for taking the exam nor the pass rate of those who have utilized it before hand, but from an educator's view, I can give my opinion. I had no trouble reading what was outlined - it was free of grammatical errors and mechanics flaws that can distract a learner. It was a bit dry, but most instructional manuals and study guides are written in informative manners only with no entertainment value to pique interest and foster engagement. But it was not written in a manner that leaves you confused and needing clarification. It was straightforward with presenting the information and walking the reader through the basics needed for taking the exam. The guide includes practice tests with TONS of questions. But the true value lies in providing written explanation and rationales for the answers to the practice test questions. All too often I have seen practice tests that simply provide an answer key and no explanation as to how those answers were arrived at, so it was nice to see that this included that alongside the answers. Overall well written and full of information that hopefully will help provide you with the confidence you need to pass your exam when the time comes.

This exam prep book is really well binded and great quality paper! It has 15 chapters FULL of great information to help for the CMSRN exam and 3 practice test along with the answers! This book helped me prepare for the actual exam and helped me to feel more confident about taking the exam and passing it!

The book was pretty much well written but somewhat vague in others. The test questions were worded in a way that some did not match up to the definitions but was all in all a pretty good read. I'm sure after reading it and doing the question, I shouldn't have a hard time passing the test.

I bought this product to help me study for my upcoming exam. I appreciate the information that is laid out in the book but I am highly disappointed in the test/answer portion of the book. I have found multiple examples of the answers not matching with the questions. For instance, one questions is regarding administering long acting insulin the morning before a surgery and whether or not you should. The answer, mentions how the contents of a vaccine may effect how you should answer the question, however there is no mention of a vaccine in the question. Other questions ask what you should do in a scenario and then the answer is in reference to what you should not do in the scenario in question. Needless to say, I am questioning the content/reliability of the book and at times, I feel more nervous about the exam after I use this book to study than I do before or when I use a different medium. Highly frustrating and disappointing.
