How well does it wright on paper? I'm looking to buy it for calligraphy.

It's a really nice carpenter pencil, but I do not think it is precise enough for calligraphy.

Will this accept regular small utility blades?

This is a pencil/marking tool, and not made for cutting blades. You might be able to modify it to work, but it would be only on an individual basis.
