Q: I've never found a candle holder that held the Shabbat candles tight. Will these holders make a good fit for the Shabbat candles in a normal holder?

I've found these to be snug for regular Shabbat Candles. It's a good fit, they won't fall out.

Q: Can I push these down into foam board to create a hole and holder for tapered candles for my daughters sweet 16 candle ceremony centerpiece?

They are made from soft foil (a bit tougher than regular aluminium foil. but they may not hold their shape if you are forcing them into styrofoam. The price is reasonable, so it might be worth a try if you use the candle inside the foil cup candle holder to make the holes! Good luck and happy birthday to your daughter!

Q: Do these work if you want to hold the candle in your hand or are they just for protecting the candle holders?

From our experience, they only work to protect the candle holder. I don't think that they are strong enough to hold in your hand holding a lighted candle. The material is aluminum. If others are with you, perhaps you can try holding one with a lighted candle. (I have never done this.) Wishing you well...and safe.

Yes, they will, However they do not make good bottle stoppers.
