You know you need this knife
This variant of the perpetual favorite, the Spydero Delica has been around for years. I’d gotten away from their serrated blades about 25 years ago, but I got the itch to have this recently and I’m really glad. The old school saber grind on the blade makes for a very versatile knife- less chance of chipping an edge when using it, still screaming sharp and the serrations chew thru cardboard or rope with frightening efficiency. The size of the Delica lends itself to carrying this knife everywhere, and while the blade can be perceived as “scary” the size of the knife really cancels that out - it’s a size that is legal virtually anywhere in the States and the knife is useless if it’s at home in a dresser drawer The Delica has been around since the early 1990’s and it’s still one of the most ergonomically designed and most carried/ used knives I own. I really like the low profile sage green handle because the visual signature is minimal- someone sees it and sees “Boy Scout knife” vs “machete dagger broadsword” - It’s got typical Spyderco vibes but also typical Spyderco build quality- VG10 steel holds up well during what’s considered proper use for a pocketknife, it opens smoothly and locks positively. The clip has been a Spyderco staple since 1983 and it’s their fault I won’t buy a folding knife that doesn’t have a clip and certainly not one that is oversized and overweight. Yes, I’m a fan. And yes, if you were looking for a serious working blade with the ability to chew thru netting but also to perform surgically precise cuts, look hard here.

Thinking about this knife? Go for it!
What can I say? It's a Spyderco. It came sharp, opens smooth, has decent weight to it and it's a small enough size for EDC but big enough to be impressive to others. This is my first Spyderco but not my first well-known brand pocket knife. My other go-to is a Benchmade Mini Griptilian which definitely gives this thing a run for it's money – especially when comparing price and features. One thing I don't really like about the Delica 4 is the back lock but that is more a personal opinion than a good reason to deduct a star. I knew fully what I was getting when I bought this knife as I had done much research on a lot of Spyderco knives prior to buying. The iconic thumb hole is a great assist to open the knife and any knife enthusiast can tell it's a Spyderco when you whip it out. I like how you can customize it fairly easily with new scales and deep pocket clips (check eBay if you're considering it). I would highly suggest a deep pocket clip as the butt of the knife sits up above the edge of your pocket when carrying – although it does stay in your pocket very well; stock clip has good tension. The all black design with the half and half blade is very rugged looking and fits my personal style. This is a great starting knife for someone looking to get into collecting knives. I am considering getting my girlfriend one to keep in her car because it's small enough that a woman could carry it comfortably (in the car, purse, etc.); might be too big for some ladies but hey if you ever need it for protection it'll do the job. The next installment I am looking to get is most likely the Paramilitary 2, which is a typical step up from the Delica 4, or just go balls to the wall and get the high profile Domino flipper. Either way, Spyderco has done a great job in their development of knives and it sure has sparked that need to advance my collection.

I purchased on OKC RAT 2 and really like it. That knife is well weighted
I purchased on OKC RAT 2 and really like it. That knife is well weighted, came razor sharp & it is extremely smooth with 1 handed opening. It is right at 3" though, which could be problematic in L.A., depending on the mood of the police officer. So after researching, I purchased the Spyderco Delica 4. It is a great knife, the blade is just under 3", but the handle has a little more real estate than others of this size. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. I deducted a star, because it is no where near as smooth to open out of the box as the RAT 2. It does have a lock back vs the liner lock on the RAT 2, and I'm hoping it will smooth out with use. It can be opened one handed, but it's just not smooth or fast at this point. I had to come back and adjust my rating to 5 stars on this Beautiful & L.A. legal Spyderco. I initially deducted a star because it wasn't smooth opening. Well, after playing with it, opening and closing it for a few weeks, this knife has become very smooth! I also get the bidirectional grip on the handle, very ingenious! The grip nearest the blade bites into your fingers if you push forward (meaning, if you are pushing the blade into something, it provides 'traction' and your fingers won't slip!) On the other end of the handle, the direction is reversed, so it bites into your fingers when you have the knife clipped and you are reaching to pull it out, you get a good grip! - Love this knife!

Current Everyday Carry Knife, exactly what I was looking for.
Spyderco's Delica 4 is exactly what I was looking for in an EDC knife. It is also the 3rd Spyderco I've owned, with the others being the Dragonfly 2 and the Tenacious. The Delica 4 is the perfect balance between those two when it comes to blade length, combination plain/serrated edge, weight, and locking mechanism. Previously I've carried Benchmade, Leatherman, and Victorinox as EDC knifes. What I like about Spyderco is the easy one handed operation with their signature thumb hole, as well as superb quality for the price point. I've found that though more than capable, I rather not mess up a Benchmade with normal day to day tasks, but in Spyderco's I've found great knives that I'm less hesitant to use rougher. Compared to the Tenacious, the Delica 4 is easier to carry, more lightweight, and of higher quality. Opens easy, and very ergonomic grip. Strong positive locking mechanism, and carry it comfortably inside the waistband all day without noticing.

Good everyday carry knife
The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is for the plastic handle. Although the plastic hand is probably why the price is so reasonable and it makes the knife good and light weight. The plastic handle does feel good though, I just wonder how long it will last..but honestly I'll probably loose it before I brake it....4-5 years seems to be about as long as I can keep up with a knife. I do not take it easy on my knives, but I do not abuse them either. I have no complaints about this knife. I have been carrying it for about 3 months now. I'm quite picky about my pocket knives and I've never owned a Spyderco before, but I've always heard good things about them and I have nothing bad to say for this one. I don't care for the fancy spring open knives....that spring is just one more thing to fail one day. I have had to sharpen it once, but it sharpened just fine....not too hard but hard enough that I expect the edge to hold long enough to suit me....good knife. This knife is not for show....not a "dress knife." It's your everyday carry knife

Just a Great Pocket Knife
Just a Great Pocket Knife. This is actaully my second Delica, since I lost my first one on vacation. I didn't consider anyhing else because I loved my first one after over a year of ownership. My new one is foliage green (my first one was black). I like the color-it's less conspicous clipped inside my pocket. The pocket clip is well designed not to snag. It holds tight onto any type of material including slippery polyester. This Delica knife is lightweight, unfolds, and refolds easily and naturally. It locks open with confidence. The blade is great (that;s what makes the knife great). It stays sharp and the partially serrrated edge does not dominate the whole knife edge. That is, there is enough standard edge to make the knife useful for most jobs. The edge stays sharp through most tasks. It shapens easily. The serrated edge is very useful for cutting rope. It cuts easily through even thick nylon rope. The hand grip is very "grippy" and has a natural overall curve in the palm of my hand. Even with wet or seaty hands the grip stays fast. I will never regret buying this knife. If I loose this one I will replace it with the same.

Great quality and price combination
This Spyderco Delica 4 is the smaller version of the same maker's Endura 4, with an equal number of features and qualities. Many will prefer this over its larger stablemate because it does not cause the same reaction as a bigger knife if pulled out in public ( which invariably happens ), has a smaller signature and correspondingly less weight. The pocketclip can be switched to a tip up/tip down, left/right hand carry, as the user so sees fit for the carry situation at hand - an important consideration in any cutting tool, whether primary or secondary. As is standard and expected of a Spyderco knife, the blade is hair popping sharp out of the box, with a combination blade of straight and serrated configuration only. The VG-10 blade - a premeium blade steel - is coated with black carbonitrite, along with a blackened pocketclip, giving the entire knife an overall subdued appearence and even feel. The scales are FNR ( fiberglass reinforced nylon, also black )for lightness and reinforced with stainless steel skeletonized liners for strenth. This construction also aids in corrision resistence ( not corrisionproof, this is NOT H-1 steel ) which will simply add to the years of useful life of this knife. Overall, witness yet another Spyderco victory in the world of lightweight, everyday carry knives.
