I was initially on the fence about buying this sander with its seemingly exorbitant price tag, but it truly is better than any other random orbital sander I’ve ever used. Excellent power, ergonomic, leaves an extremely smooth finish, does not fatigue your hands, and the dust collection is phenomenal. I build cabinets for a living and spend countless hours sanding countertops and doors. This palm sander never gets fatiguing to use and gets wood perfectly smooth. It’s so ergonomic to use it almost seems to glide over the surface you’re sanding. Dust collection is superb when hooked up to a shop vac. The included guard is truly wonderful. It protects your hands and edges of work pieces from getting nicked by the edge of the sandpaper. Such a fantastic tool. For the price, it’s an incredible value.

I've used a lot of orbital sanders and was actually reluctant to purchase this one due to the higher price. I needed something for the shop that would have better dust collection and a hose that was lightweight. I previously purchase the Rockler vacuum hose for small tools and was very disappointed. It's heavy and cumbersome, many times pull your tool off the workbench or catching on the hose ribbing. This sander, when coupled with the HEPA vacuum system, is surprisingly good. I expected it to be of high quality since it's Festool, but didn't think it would perform up to the price. It does. There is less vibration and it sands smoother in every way. The vacuum works so well with it that there isn't any sawdust on the piece at all. It's actually amazing. The detachable power cord makes it easier to store and the sustainer (container) is really good. A tool that comes with a rectangular case that is stackable; what a great idea. All they other tools I have come with odd shaped vacuum plastic containers that take up more space than they need to. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

I'm a starting woodworker and have been using a Ryobi orbital sander for years. I saw a review on this Festool sander from 731Woodworks and wanted to research it. I had a large sanding project where I was restoring an old pine pie cabinet and prepping it for paint. This sander is by far one of the best investments I've ever made in a tool and my very first purchase of Festool of any kind. It's super crazy smooth and powerful. The volume was a lot less than the Ryobi and the biggest thing was that the fatigue from holding it went down to almost nothing. I didn't have to turn it off at any point in the job to take a break so I could feel my hand again from the vibration of the tool. I have a lot of Ryobi hand tools, mostly because I'm a beginner and needed to save money, so staying with them seemed the natural thing to do especially since it was cordless. However, I don't mind the tradeoff of this corded Festool at all now that I've used it. It's got a very long cord and I don't feel I'm getting tangled up in it. I literally through the Ryobi sander I had in the garbage after 1 day of using this. Drop the mic and roll the credits... Boom!

My old Porter Cable ROS finally died, so I broke out the Festool sander I got years ago, never used. I am an idiot for not replacing all my ROS's and use this Festool sooner. Hardly any vibration, dust extraction is perfect, no sanding fatigue, and it is not too loud even without ear protection. Shop vac makes more noise than this tool. Highly recommended.

Like all Festool products it is a great sander. Dust collection is good. Only 4-stars because of price.
