Great movie. Lots of fun.

"Tremors" has been a favorite of mine for years, and I couldn't be happier with this 4K Ultra HD remaster. Having watched the movie countless times, seeing it revitalized with such clarity and detail is like experiencing it anew. The upgraded visuals bring out nuances in the cinematography and special effects that were less noticeable before, enhancing the suspense and charm that make this film a cult classic. The story remains as engaging as ever—a perfect blend of humor, horror, and action that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The characters are endearing, and the practical effects hold up remarkably well, especially now that they're showcased in high definition. I'm thrilled that they decided to remaster "Tremors," preserving its legacy for both longtime fans and new audiences to enjoy. If you love classic monster movies with a twist, this edition is a must-have for your collection. Highly recommended!

Great movie, to much cussing...

Hello, if you have not yet had the pleasure of watching this early nineties classic than get ready for quite a ride! Tremors is a film that embodies the spirit of the 1950's Monsters Invade a Small Town type of movies. A small town comes under attack by creatures that can only be described as the character's describe them: GRABOIDS!!!! Part of the fun of the movie is that while some scientific language is thrown around to try and explain the creatures behaviour, ultimately the characters do not spend a lot of time discussing where they came from and instead concentrate on how the hell they are going to get rid of them. If any of you are Kevin Bacon fans, this film is one of his best comedic/action roles. His line deliveries as a good old boy are hilarious and completely believable. Fred Ward plays his friend and the two of them have a great chemistry going on in this picture. The supporting characters are also outstanding especially Michael Gross(you'll never think of Family Ties again), and Reba McEntire(you'll recognize that lovely country twang in her speech) who play some of the greatest monster hunters in all of movie history (you'll have to see their first encounter with a beast to believe it). I'm not sure what else I can say to convince you to watch this movie, except for the fact that it alsocontains a great supporting performance from 80's genre superstar Victor Wong (Big Trouble in Little China, The Golden Child, The Last Emperor). He is very funny and I believed that a man like Walter Chang could have actually started up a food and supplies store in a small town in Nevada. I would say this movie would be OK for children aged 11 and up. The younger ones might get a bit scared at a few of the more suspenseful scenes. Oh, did I mention that the practical effects are incredible, yes there is a slight cheesiness to some to the shots but that is part of the movie's charm. However, most of the effects, including the monster's POV, are spot onand totally believable. You will believe there are underground monsters hunting the good citizens of Perfection, Nevada! I would strongly recommend this film for it's liberal use of comedy, sprinkled with just a bit of horror, and a healthy amount of buddy movie thrown in. Do yourself a favor and watch it immediately!

I never heard of this movie. But I bought a board game called Terror Below so I wanted to watch the movie that inspired it. This movie is so cheesy! I thought it was going to be scary! The plot is simple and easy to follow. There is some progressive ideas - the PhD student is a woman and is smart and helps the guys escape. Of course, the country guy comes and saves the day out of sheer determination and common sense. There are the token Mexican and Chinese guys to add a splash of diversity, because this is “‘Merica!” after all. There’s the annoying teenager and weirdo girl with a pogo stick - which sort of reminds me of Jaws. What I liked: My favorite characters were the preppers because they are so ridiculous and yet believable. I thought the relationship between the two main characters was cute and I wish that sort of relationship was more present in modern movies. I liked the small town/country-ish/down to earth sort of theme. Would I watch this again? No. Would I watch the other movies in the series? Probably not. But the movie is a good specimen for geek culture and for understanding the back story for the board game which I did enjoy.

Classic movie

This is probably one of the most underrated gems of all time. I can’t believe it bombed at the box office when it was initially released. Perhaps people just weren’t ready for it. Growing up, this was almost a staple in my weekly lineup, as I had it on VHS and pretty much wore out the tape. Is it perfect? Eh, probably not, but that’s the fun of it. It never takes itself too seriously, making it a fun, likable, and rewatchable experience. What I like most about this movie is that it reminds me of the classic 1950s creature features. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward’s chemistry is undeniable. Val and Earl were such a contrast, and that dynamic made this movie work so well. I held off buying the 4K version of Tremors because, to be quite honest, I was perfectly happy with the quality of the Blu-ray version and didn’t see the point. After a bit of contemplation, I finally jumped at the opportunity when I saw this go on sale. My first reaction was, why the heck did I wait so long? It made my week, and I had a smile glued on my face the entire time watching this movie. I may not watch it weekly, as I did when I was a child, but I always find time to view it at least once a year, and now I am happy to say I can do it in 4K. One thing to note is that this product (Standard Special Edition 4K) only has the 4K version; no Blu-ray is included. This 4K comes with Dolby Vision, and my goodness, what a crazy good improvement in picture quality. The Dolby Vision was a surprise. I didn’t see it on the back/bottom part of the case where you’d typically see it; it is mentioned in the “Special Edition Contents” second line down on the back. Needless to say, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase!

>>> ZUM FILM <<< Ich kann mich gut erinnern als TREMORS Anfang der 90er Jahre im Kino lief. Nicht, weil ich ihn damals gesehen hätte, sondern weil er mich nicht interessiert hat. Ein B-Movie über seltsame Riesenwürmer, die im amerikanischen Outback ein kleines Kaff in Atem halten? Das erschien mir wie der x-te Beitrag zum Thema "Monster-Horror": schon x-Mal gesehen und kaum mehr überraschend - dachte ich. Erst Jahre später sah ich den Film erstmals auf Video und wurde positiv überrascht. Natürlich sehen die Riesenwürmer nicht perfekt aus, natürlich sind die Dialoge platt und natürlich führt die überschaubare Handlung geradewegs zum unvermeidlichen Happy End. Aber die Geschichte und vor allem die Darsteller sind so dermaßen sympathisch, dass man gar nicht anders kann als diesen Film, der ganz bewusst "auf B-Movie produziert" wurde, gern zu haben. Fragen nach dem Ursprung der Riesenwürmer, die entfernte Verwandte der Sandwürmer aus DUNE sein könnten, darf man als Zuschauer jedoch nicht stellen. Aber diese so herrlich abgedrehte Idee macht sich perfekt in TREMORS. Drei Darsteller stechen in meinen Augen besonders hervor: Kevin Bacon, der in dem Film teilweise sehr künstlich bzw. übertrieben agiert. Dies passt jedoch perfekt zum B-Movie-Charakter des Films. Fred Ward, den man leider viel zu selten sieht. Und der leider bereits verstorbene Victor Wong, quasi der "Chinese vom Dienst", bekannt u.a. aus mehreren John Carpenter-Filmen. Wer sein Gesicht nicht kennt, hat definitiv das Kino der 80er Jahre verschlafen ;-) >>> ZUR BLU-Ray <<< BILD (gesehen auf 50 Zoll-Display) Das Bild überrascht positiv! Zwar fällt bei Total-Aufnahmen auf, dass die Schärfe nicht optimal und somit deutlich von der Qualität aktueller Produktionen entfernt ist. Allerdings zeigt das Bild vor allem bei Nahaufnahmen eine überraschend gute Schärfe. Auch erfreuen die kräfigen Farben, sowie der überdurchschnittliche Schwarzwert und Kontrast. Für einen Film, der mittlerweile über 20 Jahre alt ist, kann man TREMORS insgesamt ein sehr gutes HD-Bild attestieren, welches das Bild der DVD alt aussehen lässt. TON (gehört mit 7.1-Set) Der 5.1-Upmix kann leider nicht so sehr überzeugen wie das Bild. Man merkt der Tonspur jederzeit ihre Stereo-Vergangenheit an. Der Ton kommt sehr frontlastig daher und die Bassgewalt akueller Produktionen wird in keiner der zahlreichen, actionhaltigen Szenen erreicht. EXTRAS Ein interessantes und ausführliches Making-Of >>> FAZIT <<< TREMORS ist ein unterhaltsamer, durch und durch sympathischer Film. Ihm kommt besonders zu Gute, dass er sich in keinem Augenblick wirklich ernst nimmt. Im Gegenteil: Beinahe jede Szene wird von einem imaginären Augenzwinkern begleitet. Dies alles sowie die deutlich wahrnehmbare B-Movie-Atmosphäre haben den kleinen Film im Laufe der Jahre zu einem großen Kult-Hit werden lassen, der es auch heute noch schafft, neue Freunde zu finden. Da zudem die Bildqualität überdurchschnittlich ist, gibts von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung

Examples of this can be found dotted throughout the VHS/DVD era of cinema post-1983, but few are as dramatic as in this case. It's not hard to see why ‘TREMORS’ ultimately became a massive cult film success. It's a decent monster film with tolerable special effects and a fair amount of tension during the action scenes. It also has a strong sense of humour and never takes itself too seriously. Horror/comedies often tread too far to one side or the other of that fine line; ‘TREMORS’ walks it like a tightrope. We jump when we're supposed to jump and laugh when we're supposed to laugh and not the other way around. The giant subterranean monsters that stalk the land surrounding Perfection are called Graboids and they propel themselves through the dirt and snacking on as many desert-dwelling bumpkins as they can wrap their prehensile tentacles around and shove them down their palate. Eventually, the townspeople realise these underground giant worm aliens "vision" is based on movement and vibrations from the ground. This sends the townsfolk to the top of their houses to avoid making any noise. With the help and ammunition from Burt Gummer [Michael Gross] and Heather Gummer [Reba McEntire], the townsfolk seem safe, but when the aliens start destroying the houses, they all decide to make a run for the hills, which ends in one final showdown... While some horror comedies tend to pick an area that they will direct most of their efforts and leaving the other genre to shrivel up and fall off like a Doberman’s tail during docking. ‘TREMORS’ pays equal respect to both the scary and the silly, and jokes come as fast and appreciated as jump scares with the characters going from classic comedy banter to survival mode within seconds. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward’s chemistry is the thing of any kind buddy movie legend and with the two bickering like an old married couple as they attempt to stay alive without looking like total pansies in front of the hot college student in their presence. The film’s special effects are appropriately down-to-earth and managing to work around the film’s relatively low budget and use the creature’s subterranean nature to the film’s advantage. Despite this subdued approach to effects, the film never feels like anything but a Hollywood blockbuster. Blissfully large in scale and featuring monsters with a real bite, the films effects fire on all cylinders. Taking a page out of the book of Steven Spielberg’s ‘JAWS.’ The Graboids are gradually revealed throughout the film with each new scene offering an increased glimpse at the creatures’ true nature. It's a credit to the way the film was assembled that we never once question the reality of the creatures. There's never an instance when we're pointing at the screen and laughing at something that is obviously a bunch of rubber monsters, especially when there's a lot of action during the film's final third as the characters become the hunted. They have bombs and guns at their disposal, thanks to the Michael Gross and Reba McEntire characters, and a recognition that while Graboids can collapse houses, they can't get to anyone who has reached the safety of a rock outcropping. The dilemma: how to achieve the safety represented by the nearby mountains which don't seem so near when there's a massive, smelly, ugly thing giving chase from beneath, poving he's good for more than a smile and a quip, Valentine "Val" McKee puts his life at risk in a suspenseful sequence where we're sure he's a goner. The movie as a whole is like that: a little action, a little gore, and then a joke to ease the tension. One aspect I loved about this film is that none of the characters are as stupid and brainless as we're initially led to believe. Instead, once they learn about these ferocious creatures, they start planning and thinking, which most people automatically do in the same situation in the event of this catastrophe on this scale, which is what see happening in these types of films. The dialogue is hilarious, and is still quoted today amongst us cult film fans. The acting is fun and at times over-the-top, but oddly, never cheesy. Most of these actors are remembered for their roles in this film and for very good reason. Blu-ray Video Quality – Universal Pictures UK has released this Blu-ray with a stunning 1080p encoded image, with an even more spectacular 1.85:1 aspect ratio and it looks pretty dang smooth with a crisp image and stunning vivid colours that pop out off the screen during the many scenes of the film that take place under the bright desert sun. The colours are pretty great, they shine vibrantly throughout, with the blacks running fairly deep and the flesh tones are also very natural. Luckily this release has been given a far more superior image transfer than its inferior 2010 release and definitely far superior than the inferior DVD version of the film. For the most part, though, the image is totally impressive than it was when the film was released twenty five years ago. That is why this film is amongst one of my favourites as is cult film fans among you and this upgraded image makes it well worth owning this 2015 Blu-ray remastered release and well worth the wait. Blu-ray Audio Quality – Universal Pictures UK has released this Blu-ray with a very impressive soundtrack that is presented in a stunning audio experience of a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and uses the various speaker channels to their full extent. The ambient noises of people screaming, rocks falling, and the aliens attacking are all loud and flow nicely from the surround speakers, especially with the rushing and grumbling of the earth coming at you from all sides of the room as the Graboids attack. The music score is also great and never drowns out dialogue or the sound effects. When the aliens pop out of the ground, and gun shots go off, the bass rumbles and the speakers pack a powerful punch and is a solid audio presentation. The Blu-ray is well worth an upgrade for anyone that already own the inferior DVD. You can either Play All or watch them individually. It took time and cult fan enthusiasm for the film like this to gain as much attraction as it eventually ended up achieving. Thanks to a solid performances and some genuinely funny comedy, the film managed to achieve a timeless feel that makes it a perfect catalogue title to release on Blu-ray, which helps with the stunning camera work is pretty spectacular as it mixes in some good horror film puns and even pays homage to Sam Raimi's 'Evil Dead' now and again. ‘TREMORS’ is, after all, the type of popcorn entertainment that was meant to be purchased and enjoyed with a six-pack of cheap beer and a big bag of sweet popcorn. People remember ‘TREMORS’ fondly because, while the film has enough edge-of-the-seat moments, it also gives viewers an opportunity to relax. The characters are all likeable; there are no uncomfortable factions, power-struggles, or two-legged villains. The humans don't do stupid things in the name of greed; survival is their lone goal and ‘TREMORS’ remains a fresh and engaging experience. Highly Recommended! Andrew C. Edizione a cura della Horror Maniacs molto curata sotto tutti i punti di vista: extra numerosi e interessanti, sovracustodia cartonata a "protezione" dell'amaray, audio in 5.1 DTS HD Master, video molto definito e praticamente privo di artefatti o grana. Piazzata in sala/libreria fa una splendida figura benché non si possa definire un'edizione da collezione o di pregio. Il film è un cultissimo degli anni 90 che ha dato origine ad una saga molto divertente, premesso che nessuno dei capitoli successivi risulta godibile e riuscito come il primo. Da avere nella propria cineteca se amanti del genere (si tratta di un horror/comedy) o da recuperare assolutamente se qualcuno l'ha perso per strada...
