Games Patchwork: Americana Edition

Bought for my wife who loves puzzles, not expecting to exactly like it myself. Boy, was i wrong. The strategic element is far deeper than its outward appearance. Placing tetris type pieces on a board sounds simple, but placing the right piece at the right price with the best benefit introduces an analysis element that makes this game really fun and strategic. Coupled with the unusual and very satisfying rule that it continues to be your turn until you are no longer behind on the time board. Very addicting, easy to learn, fun and reasonable length games of 20 to 30 minutes. The outcome seems to always come down to the wire with winner determined by slimest of margins quite often. Purchased the more vibrant americana edition that reviewers have commented on visibilty of payday buttons on tiles. I can say they are tougher to see when you are deep in the game, but a quick trip to my pantry for some dry navy beans to place on those spots , solved the only minor issue with this game. Highly recommend patchwork. It is fun, addictive, makes you think, and it's random set up makes for endless replayabilty. This game surprised me and will surprise you too.

Good paced and easy to learn. Best for a quick game with your partner. Pieces and mechanics are the same with the original game, only the design on pieces are different

I got this because I played the original version before and this had a discount.Both are the same game, just the art style is different.Tetris style gameplay is both easy learn and quick to play for killing time while waiting for somethingTLDR; Buy it.

My wife and I have been working on our stash of 2-player games - particularly ones that aren't too long and don't require too much brain, as that's the only kind we have energy to play after the kids are asleep!This fits the bill really well - it's not too complicated, but there's definitely some strategy and planning ahead. Pieces are good quality and I can see us continuing to play this for a while.

My husband and I played this game at a board game cafe and loved it. Bought one as soon as we got home. Kind of like Tetris - we really enjoy it.

This game is easy to learn, hard to master, and pretty quick. I think that kids as young as 8 can play it well. My 9 year old plays it really well. We're going to gift it to our friends and family now!

This works as a decent 2-player game with family members. The rules can be a bit tricky when you are first learning, though. It helps to know that, before placing a patch on your board, you are allowed to flip the patch over if you want to. (The rules don't quite make that clear.)

This is a fun little game that takes about 30 minutes to play. It’s a two person game. Directions are a bit confusing but once you play a few times it gets easier to follow them. You tube has some videos that helped me.I think it is a bit pricy as the majority of the pieces are just super thick cardboard. I have bout it for all of my adult kids and they have enjoyed it as it takes a bit of forward thinking and some strategy.
