Strengthen Yourself in the Lord: How to Release the Hidden Power of God in Your Life

This book will help anyone in their walk with the Lord. If you want to grow, this is a great book to read and apply into your life. Bill Johnson has amazing insight into walking this Kingdom walk. I am blessed to listen to him and read many of his books.

Absolutely fantastic, one of my favorites of Bill's books. Dare I say life-changing! I might have to make it a yearly read. Here are a few snippets from my book report: *Bill Johnson wrote this book to teach believers how to strengthen themselves in the Lord like David did when he faced trials. If we can strengthen ourselves we are better equipped to pass tests and grow in the Lord until we are trustworthy co- laborers and can fulfill our destiny in the earth. Bill Johnson discusses various strategies in depth that he has personal experience with such as the power of thanksgiving and praise, the power of remembrance and testimony, and turning our very weaknesses and disappointments into weapons for his purpose and springs of life. *The power of thanksgiving- thanksgiving establishes our focus on God and His reality and denies the enemy's plan influence over us. It sanctifies the situation and puts it into our hands as a weapon to accomplish the very divine purpose the enemy meant to prevent. * The promises of God should be meditated on . Prophesy does more than tell us what will be, it begins the process of creating it. We must claim, remember, and declare these promises to possess them. We must train our minds to constantly be in agreement with His word over us and not think of ourselves in any other way despite the appearance of our circumstance. *The power of testimony- testimony is related to the spirit of prophesy and releases an expectation(faith) for it to happen again. Likewise remembering the testimony of Jesus (all He has done) in our lives and history creates a storehouse for us to draw on and grow in strength and faith. We can turn to these remembrances when we are struggling and shift our thinking into praise and expectation. *We need to know how to protect ourselves, spirits, and mind by fostering healthy relationships and not pouring out of human sympathy when we are not supposed to. We need to focus on God's answers rather than our problems, and not allowing our focus to cause anxiety. We can actively and intentionally remove ourselves from sources of negative focus and seek peace and knowledge of His reality. We need to understand that he has already given us the tools to succeed because God does not set us up to fail and He has already won victory.

Encouraging and foundational for a life of enduring faith and overcoming. I will read this book every year at a minimum.

This book is so full of insights and revelation of the deeper ways of God and how to access them. I am so blessed by Pastor Bill Johnson, nearly beyond belief. I thank God for this powerful man of God regularly.

A great book that is encouraging and insightful. Amazing points and ideas. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in growing in Christ.

Only the Lord can be your strength and your shield. Dig into the word and listen to what your destiny shall be. Great Book!

This is my second time reading this writing. I think it meant more to me now, perhaps because of where my life is right now. So much truth. Years ago Bill called me to share a few “revival principles” that I needed to hear. I remember the tone of his voice and the calm but direct manner in which he spoke. That was in 1997. Nothing has changed! Praise the Lord!

I highly recommend Bill Johnson's book to those seeking to go deeper in the truth of the word of God. Bill Johnson's style is very accessible, encouraging and challenging. The book is full of life-impacting truth and practical application - much needed in our day. I am reading the book at a time of change and challenge and to be reminded of the depth of His love and power is very timely. Thank you.

Bill Johnson writes about how you can become stronger as a Christian: "God is not responsible for making us reach our potential. A lot of believers think God is not fulfilling the prophetic words over their lives because they have missed the fact that the word was pointing to their potential, which requires their participation. God won’t fulfil your potential because He wants you to become a mature believer who thinks and acts like Him out of your own free will. Mature believers are those He can trust with the secrets of His heart because they will not use the favor He gives for their own purposes, but for His." A guide with some practical examples how to fulfil your destiny

Very glad the author stressed the importance of constantly reviewing our testimony of what God has already done to give us the necessary faith and courage to overcome our current circumstances. I got a lot out of this book including a couple of revelations about my current circumstances and believe it has strengthened my faith and relationship with God.

It really helped me ponder on where my strength is coming from during low times and how to seek God's face during such times.
