Symbols are Cryptic
I agree with the other reviewer who said “Love the guide but it's not very usable in the iPad.”We ordered the print version, but my wife didn’t want to wait for it to come before researching a SF restaurant for our anniversary, so I downloaded the Kindle edition for my new iPad. Mistake. My wife gave up using it because of the cryptic symbols they use.Now that the print edition has arrived, I was able to compare the two.The top Michelin restaurants are indicated by one, two, or three stars in the print version. Stars are easy to quickly recognize. In the Kindle version, one star is the letter o. Two stars is the letter n. Three stars is the letter m. For the Kindle version, you have to memorize these (along with others I’ll describe below) or flip back to the index in the beginning. What a pain in the ass!Scanning the print pages for restaurants with a “notable wine list”, just look for a cluster of grapes. In the Kindle edition, you have to look for an capital N – but don’t confuse it with a lower-case n, for that’s a two-star restaurant as I previously described.Looking for a restaurant with wheelchair access? In the print edition, you just look for a wheelchair symbol. In the Kindle edition, it’s the lower-case letter a.You get the idea. The text review of the restaurants is the same between edition, but in my view the Kindle edition is next to useless.Maybe this is an artifact of Kindle publications avoiding the use of graphics, but now that I know, I'll avoid this type of book in the future. You too should avoid this one!!!

Great Restaurants
I have already visited some of the restaurants mentioned in this book and they all lived up to what it said in the descriptions, but after living in Japan, I could say that a one star restaurant here wasn't necessarily as good as one in Japan. Except for that, great book to have in case you are looking for somewhere nice to get a bite.

Great for planning one's social calendar.
I'm a busy entrepreneur and this definitely helps me organize my social life. A day after I perused it, I already had the next 3 months filled up.

The best.
The Michelin guide is constantly only of the best references for amazing food. Of all the guides, I trust Michelin the most.

Icons and small graphics don't render we'll at all in the iPad.
Love the guide but it's not very usable in the iPad. The text and descriptions for the restaurants are excellent.

Michelin Guide The City
