The best walking golf shoe I've owned, hands down!

*by W***S on Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2015*

I just bought a second pair of the BIOM Hydromax golf shoes on Amazon. The 20% coupon and the reduced price of this model brought the price down to a very reasonable $121 (Promo Code "1STFASHION"). I've had my first pair for a little over a year now, and the comfort is unbeatable for walking. I walk the course (8.8 miles according to my buddy's pedometer) 2 to 3 times per week. I have tried other major brand golf shoes as well, but I always come back to my ECCO's. I keep a cedar shoe tree in all of my shoes after each use, which I believe is a necessity to keep shoes dry and comfortable, and prevent shrinking.Compared to the other brands, these are my 'go to' shoes...which is why I purchased a second pair. They are very supportive and stable, and I do not have any issues with blisters, soreness in my ankles, calves or back, after a weekend of walking the course. I cannot say the same for the other brands that I own. I've had blisters, aching back and calves, and a bout with tendonitis in my heel when wearing other very popular, high end brands. The leather is very flexible and is not rigid. They are soft and comfortable, yet very durable (see note in 'cons' about staining and appearance). I have never had an instance where the ECCO golf shoe has been a distraction in terms of comfort. They are also relatively lightweight for leather. You literally forget all about your shoes while you're playing. No pinching, no break-in period, no rubbing, no movement, etc. And the strings are really amazing. They have a bit of stretch to them, and do not come untied or get loose until you untie them. You don't have to tie a double knot, or re-tighten them during the round. A nice touch!I find that all ECCO shoes are very consistent on size (i.e. I always order the same size and they fit perfectly). But, while I wear a US 12 in most other brands, I wear a US 11-11.5 (45) in all of my ECCO dress shoes, trainers, and golf shoes. Therefore I would say they run a little large. So I would recommend going with the smaller metric size if you're on the fence. I have a normal arch, gait and width. The shoes fit very, very well. Some reviews suggest that these shoes somehow tear up or make "divots" on greens. I guess any soft spike shoe is capable of tearing up a green if you drag your feet or jump up and down. But I have not experienced any issues of this nature specific to ECCO's. The soft spikes and built in cleats do not protrude any more than any other shoe as far as I can tell.I also like the QLOK spikes. Other shoe brands with other types of locking system tend to twist out while driving the ball. Very annoying to have to replace 1-2 spikes after every round.I recommend replacing the soft spikes frequently. Once the soft spikes wear down, the permanent cleats on the bottom of your ECCO's...especially around the ball of your foot and the back of your heel...will start to wear. Now, the cons of the ECCO Hydromax (and the reason for a 4 vs. 5 star rating):1. They are not completely waterproof over time. The last few times that I've worn them on an extremely wet course, I have experienced some leaking in my older pair. But I cannot be certain if the water is coming over the top, or through the seams. My guess is that water comes in around a seam in the upper that runs from the arch to the bottom eyelet (you can see the seam I'm referring to in the attached photo). This is likely due to the seam stretching back and forth over time. All I can say with certainty is, after playing in the rain recently, my socks were damp, and the leather stayed wet overnight where the upper and the sole meet on the outer side. I am planning to treat them with mink oil to see if this solves the problem. And to be fair, they are a little over a year old (and out of warranty). And, I've not had any shoe remain waterproof for over a year with the amount of walking that I do. Nevertheless, I'd like to see a high end shoe go a little longer before leaking. It appears that the newer ECCO Hydromax II models are using GoreTex, and offering a warranty against leaks for the life of the shoe (according to the ECCO US website). I just cannot shell out $240 for a pair of shoes. I might go for a pair when the price comes down.2. My first pair was black, and I just purchased the white/concrete. I don't know if it has something to do with the yak hyde or some other factor, but the shoes have a dull finish right out of the box. I cannot speak for the white ones yet as I just got them (although I can verify that the packing tissue already stained them in places, and it does not just wipe off), but the black pair have never looked clean or shiny. After they get dirty, they tend to absorb grime and hold stains. They remain stained, even after cleaning them with saddle soap. It does not affect the performance of the shoe, and I am not that particular about the looks. I am attaching a photo of my 1 year old black shoe, side by side with the new white shoe, so you can see what I mean. The best description I can think of is that the leather looks 'distressed'. It's not a major issue, but they do not clean up or shine like a typical pair of leather shoes.Even with the cons, I've just bought another pair. So the issues are minor compared to the overall comfort, as far as I'm concerned.Overall, a great shoe for walkers!

    Great shoes

*by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2014*

I bought these shoes for my dad, he a great golfer who has been playing actively for over 40 years, He's always worn the foot joys to my knowledge, (judging by the 12 old pairs he's accumulated over the years and kept) so out of curiosity I looked on Amazon to see if I could find something better.for him since he is a Diabetic and has sensitive feet. so far, Amazon hasn't steered me wrong with the reviews. When I gave these shoes to my father and he put them on, his face instantly lit up. He really fell in love with them right when he put them on.He's probably played a hundred times since then and he's still wearing them and loving every bit of it.My dad can't use a computer too well so I am posting this 5 stars on his behalf. He's probably say something along the lines of "If I could give it 6 stars, I'd say, why the hell can't I give it 7?"

It's too bad that Ecco stopped making this model golf shoe. It is the most comfortable and supportive golf shoe that I have ever used. I was lucky enough to find several pairs in my size after they went out of production.
