Enjoyable Practical Self Reliance Book
For those of us longing for the woods, or the peace and fulfillment of a more simple and self reliant life, this book is a breath of fresh air. I have been enjoying “Backwoods Survival Guide” magazine for about a year now. This new special edition book is a well written, well organized collection of articles, and an enjoyable read. I’d recommend it for anyone interested in becoming more self reliant and self sufficient; as well as those interested in bushcraft, survival, or prepping. There is an impressive variety of topics covered: from bushcraft, homesteading, seed saving, food preservation, self reliance DIY projects, knot tying, the psychology of survival, and more. I consider myself fairly well rounded and knowledgeable about these topics, and I still found great ideas and perspectives in this book. This relaxing read has motivated me to look further into topics such as dehydrating and seed saving. I’ll definitely be making an oilcloth tarp using the method included in this book. I look forward to future editions.

Great book for any level of survival
Well written and easy to read for anyone just starting out or experienced in all aspects of survival. Touches on several aspects like homesteading, bushcraft and preparedness. The book itself is the best design I have experienced to date. Rugged cover, thicker pages and easy spread allows a person to take out camping or testing information in the wild. I personally can not wait to bring this guide on scouting camps when we finally have them again! If you want one book in your survival library I highly suggest to have this one.

Fantastic and practical guide to learning self sufficiency and survival skills.
Having been a survival enthusiast since I was a teen and adding bushcraft to my skill set, I can say with confidence that Jim Cobb did an excellent job putting this book together. It is very well thought out and easy to understand. Jim also incorporates articles and information from several other highly recommended authors and knowledgeable instructors. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn or improve their skills or if you just need a great reference to add to your survival library, you cannot go wrong with this book.

I will buy every book Jim Cobb writes.
Bought two copies and gave one as a wedding gift. Jim writes in an easy manner that makes you feel he is there next to you teaching. Photos are great. Doesn't spend time promoting all the fancy gadgets. The "you can do it" philosophy is welcome.

A GREAT REFERENCE BOOK
After first reading BACKWOODS SURVIVAL: … as an introduction to what topics were of most importance and how to build the necessary skills; I have since kept it to review as a reference book. The illustrations enhance interest in learning more about their subjects. Indeed this book "Gives Practical Advice for the Simple LIfe" in that it suggestswhat materials and products are basics for more comfortable living away a from brick and mortar environment.

Great for anyone who loves outdoors, whether a beginner or more advanced enthusiast!
Awesome book! The author does a great job simplifying what may be intimidating activities for some yet challenges others who are more experienced. Great for anyone who loves the outdoors, especially at the moment while we all seem to want to get out of the house.

Disappointed. It is not a practical advice book.
Disappointed. I was expecting to see more practical advice or ‘how to’ advice instead got bunch of photos and not much content. Also, the book is a repeat of the magazine which prompted me too buy the book but ended up not getting anything new. I do not suggest to purchase this book (unless it is updated with ‘how to’ content).

Book with nice pictures
I bought it based on authors video on Youtube thinking it will be more detailed. it is a bunch of nice pictures with a little of substance. Waste of money at least for me. Buy an actual Guide that will show you how to do things not what you can or should do.
