The Spy Next Door

I love it surprisingly not expected to see this one but I am sure happy I took a chance and bought it now I have another to add to just Jacky Chan movies

Good movie!

If you like Jackie Chan, you'll love The Spy Next Door. While the story is different from the usual cops & robbers type movie the talented Mr. Chan stars in, this one is a very good family movie. Jackie, known as "Bob" in the film, in love with his next door neighbor offers to look after her three children during her absence to visit an ailing relative. The children are a 13 year-old girl, easily classified as a real brat during the first half of the story; a brilliant boy-child who has spent much of his young life as fodder for school bullies, and a precicious four-year-old girl who steals many of the scenes. While the children's mother may in fact be in love with Jackie/Bob, the children loathe him, and the older girl and her brother, set out to torment him during his tenure as their babysitter. The fact that Jackie/Bob is a spy is not known to either the children or their mother, the young ones consider him to be a real wuss. As a good spy should, Jackie is able to devise some electronic gadgets to keep the children in line (for example, a gizmo that saves him from chasing the four-year-old by snaking out a line that latches onto her clothing, lifts her up, and delivers her back to her babysitter when she wanders off as she tends to do. The rest of the film is fairly predictable. There are the requisite "bad guys," (Russians, of course), the growing affection between Jackie and the children, and the inevitable confrontation between the good and the bad. And of course, there are plenty of gymnastics and stunts performed by our favorite humorous good guy.All in all, this is a very enjoyable film with plenty of laughs and delightful characters. You can also spend quite a bit of time wondering if "Jackie really did that?" or if what you're viewing is some sort of camera or computer trick. Whether it is or not, this movie is definitely worth the price.

Great movie.But linesgate forces you to watch a movie preview and a Toyota advert!So turn off the sound, make a coffee and when the previews crap so when coffee made can wat h this great movie!

The humor and action of this family friendly movie is much appreciated. Grandchildren ages 5-14 delightfully watched together.

Good and funny

This is an old but really funny family movie. For me, one of the best from Jackie Chan. I was searching and waiting for this one for a very long time and I’m so happy about this Blu-ray version of it.The basic story is a bit naive but in other hand, it could honestly serve as a deep dark drama, so... As the kids, they are also truly funny and natural in their acting, so you believe them. I saw that movie a long time ago and never forgot about it, if only because it make me smile, although there is a couple of good laugh to expect from it. This said, after so many Sci-Fi, wars, catastrophes, dark comic books and avatars movies, to name only these genres, this one was so welcome and so refreshing. Anyway, now it stands on my shelf beside my Kindergarten Cop (Arnold Schwarzenegger), my Uncle Buck (John Candy), my Home Alone (Macaulay Culkin) and so many others that I love as much, probably the reason why I gave it five stars.What else can I say ?... Well, if you do consider it as nothing else than a cute family movie or if you enjoy Jackie Chan comic style, there’s no mistake, it is entertaining. I recommend it.

Jackie is back to his classic form: close fighting, inventive use of environments, elevation changes, acrobatics, and a heartfelt, sensitive hero.I expected a 1.5 or 2 out of a dumb kids' movie, and got a 5/5 re-watch instant classic.It has and will age well, with just enough tech to see it well into the future, and artfully solves the Bruce Lee conundrum: why not just shoot the guy?
