Hunter 90438 16” RETRO Stand Fan with Brushed Nickel Finish

This fan is exactly what I was looking for. My husband is a 'fan person' - he can not live without them, we have ceiling and pedestal fans in almost every room. I wanted something stylish and good looking to use in our main living area since it is on prominent display for all to see, and this fan totally fits the bill. I love it, it's beautiful - it's the perfect mix of retro and modern and looks great. I considered many other fans before deciding on this one, but they were either way too ornate or plastic or bad reviews or ugly.I read all of the reviews before hand so I knew what I was getting - yes, it is noisy and the fan speeds are all about the same speed (not much variability there), there is some plastic pieces (small ones) - but did I mention how great it looks??!! The noise doesn't bother us because it is in the same room as the TV, so we aren't looking for quiet in that room. We have several other fans, some that are much quieter since they have a 5-blade plastic fan (Rowenta) vs. the 3-blade metal fan (that looks terrific) that this one has. My husband likes that the controls are switch operated vs. electronic controls.I am so happy with the appearance of this fan and the fact that I no longer have to stare at an ugly fan on prominent display in our great room. I think the appearance far out weighs any of the negatives.

Two minor complaints.The Amazon page says"Set the height of the fan just how you like it. The 16" Retro Fan telescopic height adjuster is easy- to- use and stays set at your desired height level." No, sorry. I'm worried about it slipping down...How the heck to you ensure it doesn't?The gril is really elegant. But the !@#$@ing screw on the bottom of the grill-ring is PITA. Have you measured how many footpounds of torque you have to apply to that !@#$@ing screw using a jeweler's screwdriver? Insane screw head...I am all set to love this product. I shouldn't have either of these two concerns. Indeed, it is EASY to assemble except for the !@#$@ing screw! But I managed.And it feels really sturdy, except the friction collar that "locks" the vertical tube in "whatever position you choose" fails to inspire confidence.Did I say this fan is really pretty? Beautiful as fans go. Quiet. And it works...but I wish I didn't have these concerns...We'll see...

The main thing to know about this fan is that although it looks great and is very sturdy, the quality is not there. I purchased this fan on 1/20/2021 and after about a year (the warranty is a one year limited warranty), the fan speed slowed way down. Finally on 4/7/2023 (barely over two years), the fan just stopped working! I had always heard that the Hunter brand meant quality but I would suggest that quality and the Hunter brand do not go together. In fact, I will likely never purchase this brand again. Its interesting to note too that at the same time I purchased this fan, I also purchased a Vornado brand fan for a different room. My Vornado fan gets a lot more usage, delivers far superior cooling; and although it is equally attractive and sturdy, the biggest difference is that IT IS STILL WORKING!!

This fan by Hunter is beautiful in its simplicity. It looks amazing in our home but it is more than just a good-looking fan. It does a great job of moving air, creating a cool breeze, and providing white noise while we sleep. Speaking of noise, this fan is not quiet so if you are looking for that you will be disappointed. We especially like that there are no electronics/digital display to create light in our bedroom. This has an old-fashioned oscillating on/off pull-push knob and the speed is controlled by turning a switch. Low tech but very high quality!

This fan is great! Not difficult to put together. It has very few plastic parts, solid metal construction that looks and feels like it will last a long time. I've had this fan for a couple of weeks and it runs flawlessly. It's not built to be quiet though. On the highest setting, it will cause you to turn up the music. Personally I would expect that with as much air as it pushes and it isn't unreasonably loud.

Update below- A little noisy for an all metal fan. I was hoping it would have run quieter but it's not awful. Looks great, like it will last a long time. Disappointed that it only has two speeds.Update 11/20 - the fan just stopped working. It's been in the same room in the same place, never knocked over and connected to a surge protector. Not even a hum or twitch. Just dead. I bought it because I wanted a durable fan that looked and felt more substantial but it didn't last

I was skeptical about making this purchase because of some of the reviews I read. However, I went with my gut feeling and purchased it anyway and I’m so glad I did. My husband and I absolutely love it! We assembled it quiet easily without opening the instruction manual. All the screws needed were already in there place we just needed to remove the screws, place pieces together and place the screws back in their respective places. Pieces were in excellent condition when arrived. It’s beautiful and the noise level is perfect. Not too loud but loud enough. Very simple assembly and great quality. I will be purchasing one for my son.

Have had two of these in the last 5 years, both have died. That's a 100% failure rate. Originally they listed for about $175, now listing for under $100 nearly everywhere with a limited stock. Hunter clearly knows these fans are garbage and are still thrusting them upon people.DO NOT BUY! You'll get a lifespan of max 2 years out of them. Not to mention both, when they failed, started to get blisteringly hot. So very likely to be a FIRE HAZARD as well, wouldn't be surprised if a few places caught fire because of these things.How Hunter is still a brand is beyond me. They have a 1.1 rating on ConsumerAffairs with over 400 total reviews of the brand AS A WHOLE. That says something.

Elegante y durable diseño, excelente para sala

Replaces a cheapo fan that had the plastic disintegrate after a few years in a sunny window. Blows lots of air, and is well built. Very happy with it.

Love this fan cause it makes loud noise and I love white noise. And it has a lot of power.

Does not produce enough air as expected.
