Wicca for Beginners: A Guide to Wiccan Beliefs, Rituals, Magic, and Witchcraft

First but not last
I have downloaded both Kindle and Audible Audio Books about Wicca. I've started many of them but have never finished any of them. This was the first book that really caught my interest and held my attention long enough to finish. It also is the book that is going to bring me back to some of the prior books to finish them. This book made me feel that my thoughts and feelings are acceptable around my interpretation and expression of Wicca. Now, I want to know more. She does a great job of explaining and connecting the different thoughts and beliefs while also acknowledging that you may run into others that don't agree, and that's okay. She expresses that the beauty behind practicing Wicca is that it's fluid and adaptable to what you feel connects you spiritually. I feel like she's started me on a spiritual journey towards things I've long believed but have repressed through a traditional Christian upbringing. I feel like she had given me a strong foundation for further investigating. The one thing I would like to have seen was more detail on how to go from research to practicing. She explains the tools and the spells, but it lacks the explanation of how to embue the tools with energy or I missed it. Overall, though, I couldn't have asked for a better beginning.

Excellent Beginner's Guide
I purchased this little guide many, many years ago. I was just starting an exploration of my path and this guide was informative, inspiring, and well-balanced. I still refer to this guide and consider it an indispensable resource. I love Lisa Chamberlain's other books and highly recommend this book for any curious about this path. I'm not a Wiccan but found the information applicable to my specific path. The newer edition is a beautiful hardcover!

Perfect for a newcomer to the Wiccan Tradition.
I really, really recommend this book as the first book that you pick up for those interested in beginning a spiritual journey through the study of Wicca. This is a path that I have been wanting to explore since I was a pre-teenager, but I never did because I was so overwhelmed by the sheer abundance of literature to choose from. I ordered this book solely because it was inexpensive and seemed to cover a wide range of topics, and I am so, so happy that I did. It's a short book, which made it immediately appealing because I live a very fast-paced life and I wanted something that I could read in bed at the end of my day. She does give a thorough overview of Wicca as a whole, and it's in simple terms free of jargon. It's not at all intimidating and very easy to follow. Honestly, the way that she writes is very conversational; it feels like you're sitting down with her over a cup of coffee and she's very gently and patiently talking with you about something that she dearly loves. She isn't pushy or offensive, she never gives the impression that anyone who doesn't practice Wicca is "wrong", and she's inclusive of so many different ways to practice the religion in her writing. While she doesn't tell you "everything" that you need to know, she lays a solid foundation for further study, and gives a great list of suggestions for further reading and exploration. Definitely recommend, definitely will purchase the rest of her books. So, bottom line, if you want to explore Wicca and you're not sure where to start, this is the book you've been looking for.

A good starting point for delving into Wicca
I found this book quite enjoyable. I like how Chamberlain provided a brief history, and did so without it being dry. I enjoy learning about history myself, and I find it takes awhile to get through one item because I’m unable to focus for extended periods on the topic; my attention tends to wander. This is one of the rare books where I can spend a large amount of time reading about the history. My favourite section would have to be section three: Next Steps for Aspiring Wiccans. I somewhat remember my early days on the path when I was reading as much as I could find. At the end of whatever article I had just focused on, I would think ‘Now what? Where do I go from here?’ Usually it was onto the next piece of information I could find. I’ve come to a point where I find it best to focus on one aspect at a time.I love how Chamberlain labelled the section Sample Tables of Correspondence; as you look more into the religion of Wicca, you find that what is provided in this book really is a sample. It’s great to have a starting point.I also love that she included Ellen Dugan in the Suggestions for further reading; I very much enjoy reading Ellen’s work.

A Masterful Intro to Wicca
After a decade spent away from the Craft, I recently was drawn back to Wicca. But after a decade of following another path I decided that I needed a refresher and so purchased Ms. Chamberlain's book as a beginning. I was impressed almost from the start by her candid and informative approach. Though meant as an overview I found it most useful to determine what course of study I would pursue from this point onwards. I especially found her approach to the history of the craft informative, as she went beyond the myth of the Witch Cult in Europe to point out that modern Wicca really was mostly a modern religion, of modern origins, and that the pioneers of this new faith, Gardner, Valiente, Buckland and Sanders, gifted us with something beautiful, something blessed, something quite sacred and profound. In years to come, I will recommend Ms. Chamberlain's book to any who are interested in a quick, concise and informed summary of what Wicca is all about. Thank you!

Easy to read, unbiased source full of positivity.
I read it in one sitting. It was the exact kind of summary I was looking for to try to understand Wicca, Witches and the like. I love learning new information in concise yet thorough chunks, and this book served information just so. My only qualms were a lack of expose on named (real-life) figures mentioned to be prominent in the development of modern Wicca and the fail to mention of the incredibly influencing poem "Rede of the Wiccae." Otherwise, a great read. I loved it.
