I had been avoiding this brand because reviews made it sound like cleanup was a nightmare. Now I’m wondering if the people saying that just didn’t have a lot of experience with dye? I’ve been dying my hair purple for more than a decade and this was one of the easiest to use, and my shower looked just fine afterwards (see photo). I haven’t had much time to see how it bleeds on my clothes, but I’ve had other brands that turned my hands purple just from running my fingers through my hair and this is not that bad. I had a bit of purple left in my hair from my previous dye so it might look darker on me than someone starting fresh (see other photo), but the vibrance blows my old brand away. And that’s over natural grey hair, I never bleach- although I do have coarse dry hair that takes up color better than some greys. I had been using Pravana vivids, but a year or two ago they changed their formula and the results after that were super disappointing, looked faded on the first day and washed out immediately. I’m a convert to Punky color, and I love that the grape koolaid smell hasn’t changed since I first tried it as a schoolgirl in the 90s!

Best hair coloring product!! Lasts much longer than any other brand I've tried and the color is bright and strong. The cherry on top is the smell, it's so good, I smell my hair constantly when I dye it with Punky color.

I've been dying my hair for over 10years and by far this is the best dye I've ever used. It has a nice thick consistency making it easy to apply to hair and I have long hair (all the way down to my waist) and amazingly I think I could have really done my hair with one jar, but got two to be on the safe side. Also this smell great, kinda reminds me of grape blow pops and even after washing my hair a few days later still has that faint scent and no fade which a lot of hair dyes with vibratant color fade after a few washed but this is still standing strong. The only thing I have to say. Because this has great color make sure to cover your skin on Vaseline and wear gloves when you rinse your hair or you will have purple skin for a few days. Seriously though if you want a violet color for your hair this is the best

I've converted from all of my former store bought dyes to use only this one. I only use the purple shades and there are several to choose from which allows me to layer or mix in highlights of varying colors. Makes my hair incredibly soft and manageable. Since it conditions, I dont need another conditioner until this washes out. I'm not a good judge of how long the color lasts because I dont wash my hair often. About every 5 days. But it will last nearly 2 months and still look decent even on my natural brown areas. Covers my grey too.

Happy with the color. This is a violet color, so on the blue side, it fades to a blue purple. (Plum is a magenta purple, and fades a to a pink purple) It is temporary, so it will wash out little by little each wash. It has a decent scent (PLUM is the best scent!). It's basically a strongly pigmented conditioner. You WILL NEED light colored hair in order to see these colors, but if you have highlights or brown hair, it will add a tone, or cast to it. The longer you leave it the deeper the color sits, so may fade slower. I try to leave it at least an hour or more. It may take weeks for the color to completely wash out, but it will start to fade within a few washes. This is a temporary hair color, NO DEVELOPER is need for this! That is not how THESE work. Look into demi or semi permanent colors for that! . . In case it helps anyone: Turquoise mixed with violet make a deep blue.

I have tried a number of hair dyes that claim they’re “purple”. However, most of the time it’s actually just a variation on pink. This product comes out a beautiful dark shade of violet. My hair is light blond naturally, so I’ve never had to bleach my hair first. I only put in random strips of color within the blond, and I receive multiple daily compliments from complete strangers. It’s a little messy to apply, so be careful! Once that dark purple lands on any fabric it’s there forever. Best to be naked when applying! :). Lasts about 3 weeks, fades a nice light violet.

Punky Colour Bright Yellow is a true, primary yellow that doesn't lean green or orange. I've used a lot of yellows, and my favorite true yellows are Iroiro yellow and Arctic Fox Cosmic Sunshine. (My favorite green/cool yellows are Arctic Fox Neon Moon and La Riche Directions Fluorescent Glow.) It lasts ok for a yellow, but the ones mentioned above last through more washes. Besides dying my hair yellow, I use yellow dyes to create custom colors, and this one doesn't stick around long. Dark green hair is hard to achieve and I usually mix some yellow in, and this particular dye fades quickly and leaves me with dark blue or teal hair (not bad but not what I was going for). I do not like the way Punky Colour smells. It's sort of grape-y (like Arctic Fox), but it smells off somehow and kind of makes me gag. I only purchase Punky Colour when I see a good deal on it. They do have some great colors, but the smell is not for me.

I LOVE my purple hair. I am very happy with the Punky Hair product and when I had originally run out and Ulta no longer had Plum in stock, I had purchased Violet thinking it was pretty similar. HA - very blue. So I looked to replenish my supply of Plum through Amazon. I mix my Punky Color with about 1/4 conditioner and 3/4 color and just brush it on with a color application brush. Make sure to wear gloves because it will stain your hands. I find this works best with the few gray spots that I have if I put on a plastic cap and sleep with the color on overnight. I get a great overnight conditioning treatment and the color lasts a good 2 or 3 weeks before I have to touch up the roots. I get daily compliments on my purple hair - it is dark enough that it isn't shocking, and at almost 50 years old I have been surprised at the positive comments.

I have black Asian hair that has been bleached. Any purple is not going to last, no matter what brand. Expect to re-apply every 3 weeks or so. Punky colour is so easy to use. I add about 2 table spoons to my existing conditioner. I wash my hair and then apply with a hair dye brush. Wear gloves, Vaseline around your hair line, and use ear covers. Let sit for about 30 minutes (enough time for you to wash the materials and clean up, hang out on your phone about 20 min). Wash out with gloves on. Blow dry on light, blast on cool I love this purple because it doesn't stain my pillow cases and I wear my motorcycle helmet with no fear of staining. If you want lighter purple, use less purple. But honestly, I like the bold colour and after a wash or two, it looks a very pretty lavender.

This is a super vivid purple that I adore. I bleach the parts that I colour first and then apply. I love the smell! I have curly hair so I avoid products with harsh cleansers and chemicals and the colour lasts at least 6 weeks for me. This will vary on how often you wash and dry/heat style your hair though. Punky colour is my go-to vivid brand.
