I bought this to measure some lengths longer than my tape measure. I've known they exist but just thought they were gimmicky. Oh how wrong was I! The unit is very easy to use and comes with batteries, so straight out of the box it is ready to go. I immediately tested against my own measurements and it is extremely accurate, way more accurate than you can be with bendy tape measures. Why is it so good? Its all the extra things you can do: - Records your measurements - Works out areas - tells you the height of something using pythag, so you just stand back from the object (a tree, or building), point to the top and then point to the bottom and it works it all out! - Continuous scan Max/Min mode... it will constantly scan and tells you the biggest and smallest lengths it finds Seriously cool piece of kit for the price. I'm going to be buying a load more as gifts now because I think everyone should own one.

I bought this to use instead of tape measures, which can be awkward over longer distances when working alone (folding on themselves etc). I find the basic functions (distance measurement, volume and area calculations etc) to be excellent. Quick and very accurate. The device is not really useable outside in sunlight. The more advanced functions (e.g. to calculate wall height using Pythagoras theorem) I find less useful. It’s hard to maintain a stable position with a handheld device and I suspect some of the measurements I take are ‘out’ because of this (rather than a functional failing of the device per se)… but it’s hard to be sure. It might be okay for estimating in this use. I like that it can show slope angles too, that’s very useful at times. Anyway, for the purpose I acquired it, it is very good. It’s a shame outside use is limited, however, I gather that is quite typical for such devices. I have dropped it a couple of times and it hasn’t fallen apart, it seems quite robust. Overall, I do consider it very good value for money and I’m very happy with this purchase.

Excellent value for money, was bought to replace an eight year old electronic measure which had failed. Manufacturers repair cost was more than the cost of this item. Works very well, impressed with the built-in angle finder, a very useful addition to my tools.

Much easier to use than my old tape measure especially when measuring lengths over a few metres. It made measuring floor to ceiling height, so easy. Instructions are clear and easy to understand. It has a digital spirit level which wasn't obvious from the description. So far delighted and I would recommend.

Look after the device. Accurate to a few mm. Has not been used a lot but so far as good as a device at any price. The on line memory is very handy.

Really like this thing. Dont expect to get 70m unless indoors cause the laser cant really be seen at that distance in daylight.

Bought this to use the laser to show where the hyperfocal distance is for use in landscape photography. Works well for my needs but not really used it for measuring room volumes and all the other features it can do, so can't comment on them.
