Sturdy, powerful vacuum cleaner
I purchased this Miele canister vacuum 2 years ago. Waited to write a review until I see how it holds up. I own and operate a Bed & Breakfast. Do all the cleaning myself. I purchased this vacuum for the bottom floor. I've had a Riccar Canistar Vacuum since 2013. It's a wonderful machine, but heavy. I got tired of lugging it up and down stairs, so I did a lot of research and decided on the Miele. My budget was $800. I'm hard on my vacuums. I'm typically in a hurry so drag the canister around by the hose. I often yank it around corners. Sometimes I'll kick it around furniture. On the occasion when I do bring the Miele upstairs and downstairs, it sometimes tumbles down the stairs. The vacuum has held up, despite all the abuse it takes. The home is mostly carpeted, with expensive Persian, Caucasion, Afghani rugs over the 22 year old carpeting. I keep the setting on 2, and it runs smoothly over the rugs, picks up ALL the dirt and dust (did I mention I have a dog, and allow guests to bring their pets). The front entry way is granite. The hall, kitchen, downstairs bathroom are linoleum. I use the flat brush attachment on these, and it works great. I've used the detail attachment on all manner of things, and it's wonderful. I also use the brush attachment on curtains, and the many tapestries from all over the world on the walls. Now, all that said, there are a few drawbacks - no deal is perfect! In a prior review, it was noted by a man who had issues with the pipe portion re-attaching to the motorized cleaning head. The attachment mechanism isn't great. You have to 'fenaggle' it, it's a hassle, and I've feared on more than one occasion it would break. It's the most frustrating thing about the vacuum. Another issue is the length of the chord. I don't see why Miele didn't make it 15 ft. longer. As comparison, my canister Riccar has such a long chord that I can clean practically the entire upstairs. And finally, as other reviewers have noted, given the high price of this machine, it would behoove Miele to place an on/off switch on the handle. Walking back to the machine to turn it off, then on again, due to having to move it to get to another outlet, due to the short chord - let's just say, this could have been better thought out, on Miele's part. All in all though, the vacuum has worked well. I'm impressed with the suction power and sturdiness. I bought the Miele with the Performance Pack A 16 type GN AirClean bags. I appreciate having alot of extra bags and filters. It's been 2 years and I haven't had to re-purchase vacuum bags or filters. I change them 2x/month.

Perfect multi-purpose vacuum
This vacuum is very easy to use and to maneuver around your home. The suction is very strong and cleans my carpets really well. And I also love the attachment to use for the hardwood floors and the way it swivels to get in and under everything.

When you can afford one of the BEST!
Very good vac. Maybe the best. Hard to believe this is the best value. If you have too much money, buy it, you won't go wrong. Would be nice to have handle controls, but that would cost $400 more! Insane.Very quiet. Vacuum bags are plush. Has few odd design features. But learn how they work, and all is good. The top of the vacuum is high gloss plastic. After first day, permanent light scratches all over it. Looks like crap in the light. Should made it a dull matt finish or something. Maybe we'll paint it.Models are very confusing as to the differences. Looks like all of them have the same motor.Easy to buy bags and accessories online or locally. Sold and repaired at many places.Good choice of attachments to buy extra.Wife says: does not like went you park the carpet head in the self standing position. Got to hold the foot release button with foot and pull it back at the same time. Odd. Other then scratches, she really like how quiet it is and is very happy with it.8/2021. Now that we have used to for some time...The extension tube jambed. Was sent a new one quickly. Service had no solution for the problem. These must cost $200 each, and did not last a year.Be very careful plugging the handle into the pipe. The plastic in the female pipe, brakes off.The power head is very hard to change settings.Vac bag has a odd install design. Few times we have filled the vac housing because it bypassed the bag.For the price, these things should not be.Very finnikey. Don't lend it to friends.Besides these things, we really like it. Couldn't afford the controls on handle, very expensive, but needed. Cleans all types of floors very well.Should you buy one? Not sure. $$$

Works fantastic and pushes easily on my very plush carpet with thick memory foam pad.
Suction is superior to any vacuum I’ve ever owned and it maneuvers well and is reasonably light weight.

Will not work on a carpet with any depth to it
We have a plush carpet that "regular" vacuums simply can't be pushed across. When I saw this vacuum, I figured it was the perfect solution. Miele vacuum cleaners, in general, are fantastic. But don't get this one thinking it will work on your super-plush carpet. The power roller will immediately stop spinning if it meets ANY resistance at all. There are five adjustable heights, but if the highest setting is not high enough (as is apparently the case with our carpet), you are out of luck. The vacuum roller simply immediately shuts itself off and all you get is suction. The vacuum moves easily across the carpet even with the highest suction. But it does not clean effectively without a working power roller...even with the highest suction. I had high hopes but was sorely disappointed.
