Iron it first to make sure the product will provide a good surface. Step 2 Place the patch in the position you have chosen. The adhesive side should be flat against the base fabric. Make sure the patch is not crooked. On embroidered pieces, the adhesive side is the bottom. Step 3 Heat an iron. Turn it to the warmest setting your fabric can tolerate. Make sure the "steam" option is off.
