Beautiful, like new!
I bought the kindle oasis when it first came out...and returned it the same day! Back then in its first generation it was oddly shaped like almost a perfect square, and hampered by a specialized case that needed to be charged. I'd recently been watching YouTube videos of people comparing various kindles and became intrigued by the latest (10th) generation of the kindle oasis. Although is hasn't been updated since 2019, it has the distinction of being the only kindle with page-turning buttons and auto-rotate ability. I also love the ergonomics of the side with the page-turning buttons that make it enticing and natural to hold. It's evident that Amazon is no longer selling new stock of the kindle oasis, and it's become "luck of the draw" doing a random search on their site for either used or Certified Refurbished versions. I really got lucky with this purchase! The Champagne Gold color is definitely a luxe commodity as there don't seem to be as many of these out there. I didn't need the 32gb space because I really only ever download a handful of books at a time, but I still scarfed up this device because it's a dying breed and such a beautiful one. Even though my invoice stated that it was Certified Refurbished, it also showed the Condition as "New". Indeed, this is for all intents and purposes a brand new device. There isn't a mark on it and its software was up to date and amply charged. I know a persistent complaint is that the battery isn't as long-lasting as with the basic kindles or the Kindle Paperwhite, but I'm using this when I'm reading at home in my recliner so that's a non-issue. Another common complaint is that the kindle oasis still has the micro-USB port while current devices all upgraded to USB-C as the standard. Again, for me a non-issue. I have a lamp next to me with both of these charging cords plugged into it, so who cares which charging cord I have to use? I still have other older generation e-ink kindles as well as kindle fires that use the old charging cords, and I have tons of them. I probably saved about 50 bucks nabbing this kindle oasis 32gb in Champagne Gold as a Certified Refurbished sale, and I couldn't be happier. I never thought the page-turning buttons and the ability to turn it around with auto-rotate to change hands would be such a pleasure-but it is. I also love the settings of automatic brightness and warmth and Dark Mode. I also have these settings on my Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, and it makes it so much easier on the eyes as a senior citizen. I use the Paperwhite Signature Edition for bedtime reading, but I enjoy the page-turning buttons when I'm reading in my recliner. The color is so beautiful that of course I had to buy a clear case with a clear strap and adorn it with a few book-related cute stickers. It really looks gorgeous this way and keeps the device feeling light so I can enjoy the ergonomics of holding the device with one hand, as intended.

AMAZING! Coming from a very picky person
I am the kind of person to read reviews for hours until I buy something. I’ve wanted to upgrade from the basic kindle for a while and after looking through all the models, the oasis seemed like the best for me. I loved having the buttons since I didn’t like having to swipe through every page. I was worried that this is an older release and they haven’t had any model newer than 2019 which is why I was seriously considering the paper white. The paper white had it all except the buttons! In the end, I decided for the buttons and the extra hand holding room of the oasis since I love to read one handed.BATTERY LIFE: For everyone saying this dies so quickly, what are you doing?? I charged it up fully and took it on a week long trip. With airplane mode on, I finished two books of about 200-300 pages each and had about 50% battery left. I had the brightness up decently and turned on night mode in the evening. Maybe it doesn’t last weeks like the basic kindle does but I don’t need it to. I can charge every night if I wanted to.Honestly, I can’t fault anything except one thing that even my basic kindle did, imprints. You can sometimes see the imprint of previous pages or the ads from the Lock Screen. It personally doesn’t bother me but if you hate that fuzziness, I would go with the most recent model of the paper white since I believe it doesn’t have that problem with the new technology. Also, the price is a bit steep. I would say wait until it goes on sale, and buy refurbished! I’ve had zero problems with my refurbished kindle and it looked brand new out of the box. I got the good one and it is beautiful. I bought an envelope case for it and the only part that got damaged is the back which I dropped while unplugging it. I did scratch the back a bit so just be careful and use a clear case or keep it in a fully cover case when not reading.Oh! Also it’s very lightweight and easy to hold!Overall: 9.5/10

Don't Worry!
So should you buy new or reconditioned? In my experience there is no difference - this Kindle was in 'as new' condition, perfect. Not a scratch or mark. Saved a load of money in the process. Works perfectly too. I find i read books quicker with it. I like you can read a night without the need for a light or torch. The battery lasts forever, its easy to download books too. I like the flexibility of either pressing the button or touching the screen to turn the page. Its light too. Plenty of font choice and size. It didn't come in a fancy new 'Kindle' box because it was reconditioned so it was in a plain cardboard box with a new cable. Go for it. Great product!

I love this Kindle!
I have owned the 3rd generation Kindle Fire Hd since it was released and have enjoyed it. I used it for some book reading but also for reading some e-magazines. It works well and probably would still be using it except a friend of mine showed me their Oasis - wow!!’ I loved it instantly. My complaints about the Fire were primarily the mediocre battery life and the dismal screen viewing in bright areas. Pretty much unusable if I was on the deck outside reading. While the oasis is pricey, it’s a JOY to use. Great form factor, amazing screen in any conditions, and I love the hard buttons to scroll forwards and backwards. Form factor is tremendous with the great screen and i love the auto flip ability to basically move from right handed to left handed.Reading my ebooks is FUN again.Complaints? I probably won’t continue reading e-magazines any longer with the Oasis due to it being black and white only. That’s ok.Thrilled with my purchase. I bought one refurbished from Amazon and so far no complaints.Battery life is much better - we will see if I can actually go “weeks” without charging. But so far, so good.
