Why didn't I think of that???
I "hate" this! Actually, I "hate" that I bought an almost $400 20-inch cordless mower when this, and the string trimmer from Black & Decker I had already, did ALMOST as good of a job of mowing my small, ~1/8th acre lawn.Truth be told, I am actually happy that I have both as it gives me more options and I will definitely need it when the high heat of summer hits but I can easily say that if I didn't have the larger cordless mower, I could easily have made do with this.I found this to have absolutely no issues as others have described, such as it being flimsy or becoming unlatched or difficult to adjust in cutting height or, being able to wack its way through taller grass or, not being able to get it latched again after using it for a bit and then removing the trimming to do some side trimming and then inserting it back into the cradle. On the 'taller grass' note, this makes it through easier than my larger cordless mower and my larger cordless mower is no slouch either. As an experiment, I tried cutting the grass when it was VERY wet and sure enough, when I removed the trimmer and then tried to reattach it again it wasn't as easy to lock in to the cradle but, just do NOT cut very wet grass, which one shouldn't do anyway, and as far as I can tell, one should be good to go.Also, I used the "carpet vacuum" technique of mowing around me in all directions as opposed to going in straight lines across the entire width and length of the lawn and never once had it unlatch on me when turning it around by partially dragging it sideways. One suggestion I could make to people using this is to not actually install the screw in the string trimmer that "holds" the trimmer shield on so that when it comes time for clean up, one can remove the shield and hose it off, along with this trimmer cradle, without having to use a screw driver. To be honest, I don't know why that screw is needed in any event because it latches to the power head of the trimmer very securely anyway. Also, get yourself a 4.0ah battery. I didn't even bother trying to use this with the stock battery, which is only a 1.5ah battery. Get a 4.0ah battery and you will be MUCH happier! The only negative point about this unit is that it only provides two different cutting heights, "short" and "too short". ;-) Seriously though, the turf on my lawn is comprised of a tall fescue and so during the height of the summer is best cut at a height of 2-1/2 to 3 inches.Seriously though, the highest setting is, if I remember correctly only 2-1/4 inches which is fine for me for the Spring time when the grass is growing quickly and there is sufficient rain so that shorter grass blades which lead to shorter roots are not a problem but in the summer, if my grass is cut that short, it is guaranteed to brown out. Even just going to 2-/12 inches, which doesn't seem that much different would be enough. Maybe I can figure out a way to transmorgify it to allow for a higher cutting setting but then again, I've got too many projects to get to before worrying about that.In any event, this thing ROCKS, HARD and practically everyone on my block who has seen me using it all have said that they want one!

Absolutely love this!
Full disclosure - I've only used this once, but it was with severely overgrown weeds on a large, uneven yard. Yes, it took a long time to finish the job but it was sooooo worth it. As I said, my lard is uneven - not level, holes from rotted tree roots and lots of random rocks. I've broken my lawn mower several times and was tired of paying for repairs. I'd been doing the yard with a weed whacker but that was tricky. My yard often looked like a three year old who'd given himself a haircut. When I discovered this attachment for my weed whacker I was amused. Then the more I thought about it, the more it made sense - weed whackers don't care about rocks or uneven ground. There was a lot of conflicting 'will it fit my model' stuff online but I figured it was worth the gamble. When it arrived I tried to get it to fit with my Black & Decker electric but I couldn't make it fit. The more I looked at it the more I realized it wasn't the whacker itself, it was the debris guard - it was 14 inches and the mower deck requires 12 inches. After a quick look on Amazon for the 12 inch guard and a couple days of waiting, I was able to put the whole thing together and it worked! I believe my whacker is either 900 or 912 model.I plugged my whacker in and gave it a go - perfection! So light, so easy to maneuver, and small so it fit into places my regular mower wouldn't fit. What about the over knee-high weeds? Yes, it did take some back and forth, but it wasn't any more difficult than using a vacuum. In fact, I found that motion to be the most effective when going over the really long, heavy weeds. For the shorter stuff, long lines works fine. And because the mowing deck covers the entire string area, there's no debris getting thrown everywhere and the cut stuff says down - much easier to go back over with a rake or leaf blower/vacuum. And when you do need it in whacker mode, for fence lines and such, you just pop it out of the mower deck and off you go.

Outstanding for small yards
I have a very small yard that is divided into four sections. I was using a reel mower and a B&D string trimmer. The problem with the reel mower was one of the sections had a slope with very thick St Augustine grass. Versus the reel mower this deck attachment has the following advantages for my yard:* Much lighter, easier to maneuver* It doesn't miss blades like the reel mower requiring multiple passes* Rolls through thick grass easier than a reel mower (going slower and allowing the trimmer to cut)* Easier on the back because I now have less trimmingI found the the trimmer easy to engage and disengage from the deck. It's easy to hang on a hook in the garage. If the grass is wet/damp clippings with collect underneath the deck but they are easy to scrape out. Some people might want more height settings but the highest setting works perfectly for me. I try not to cut my grass too low. I really wasn't expecting this to work so well and it far exceeded my expectations.
