Shipped incredibly fast and allowed my furnace to work again, thanks!
In their infinite wisdom, my HVAC contractors replaced the control board on my furnace and didn't replace the original ignitor (even though this specific one came with the new control board) making it so my heat didn't work. The original ignitor was incompatible with the new control board, which it states in the manual. They refused to come out without additional money even though they broke my heat, so I decided to read the manual and install this product. Took me half an hour, never having done this before, and my heat works flawlessly! Can't thank you guys enough for the expedient shipping!

Works Great!
Great product, comes with two brackets to fit different make/model furnaces. Depending on furnace the removal of the old and installation of the new should be fairly straight forward and easy. In my case a draft fan assembly was very close to igniter making it kinda tricky to get to. All in all it wasnt this products fault and on my old furnace it would have been a 5 minute job instead of 10 minutes. Would buy again. Do analyze why your old one burnt out though however when they get old though they do crack. You shouldn't be going through these yearly so do your investigation work.

They last, but buy a back-up!
I installed one of these about 5 years ago in a Rheem Criterion II furnace (after first installing a replacement silicon carbide one which stopped working after about 2 weeks; a year earlier, a technician had installed yet another silicon carbide). I just got home a couple hours ago to find my furnace wasn't working and I could see the ignitor wasn't glowing when the furnace tried to start up. Luckily, 5 years ago, I bought a backup & I knew exactly where it was. 30 minutes later, it was installed (it would be even quicker but my hot water heater and furnace are in a tiny utility closet, and the hot water heater makes it hard to access the furnace.Remember to turn off furnace, turn off electrical circuit, turn off gas. Since my furnace is so difficult to access, it's hard to not bump anything with the ignitor and to not touch it with your hand, but ideally, you should avoid doing that. If you've never connected electrical wires, read up on how to do that safely. You need to use the wire nuts provided (or ones which were on your furnace already; don't be tempted to use standard plastic ones!! They'll melt.) There are good videos online showing you someone replacing one of these.Be sure to keep a spare ignitor for your furnace; these eventually stop working (nitride ones last much longer than silicon carbide). Technicians put huge mark-ups on these, and it's hard to find replacements at normal stores (supply stores may not sell to you). You especially want to have a back- up if you live in an area where it's quite cold.As an added bonus bit of info: If you ever think your furnace is not working because of the flame sensor, get a crisp new dollar bill and run it along the flame sensor. This happened to me about 4 years ago, and I did this - flame sensor has been working fine ever since. Don't use sand paper or emory paper - the sand will melt & coat the flame sensor; then you'll have to replace it. Flame sensors are cheap on amazon if you purchase in advance - have a spare!

Worked great on Goodman furnace
Bought this so I wouldn’t have to replace the igniter every year. Hope it lasts a long time! It fit right in, no hassle at all, as they supplied mounting for several options.

Universal Silcon Nitride igniter
After watching some videos on YouTube I decided to purchase this Silicon Nitride igniter, to have on hand. The reviews stated that a Nitride igniter was much stronger than the OEM igniter, for your furnace, and would last much longer. My furnace has to be around 20 years old and I was concerned about the igniter, as it had never been replaced. The reviews/videos stated that the OEM igniters go out every 4 or 5 years and that it is around a $300 service call to have them replaced. About a month after the purchase of this igniter, sure enough, mine went out. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out which of the parts provided, that I needed, and my furnace was running again. Did I mention that it was a Sunday, in the middle of winter, in Utah ? I suspect that a service call, on a Sunday, would have been more than $300 ? So, for around $20, I had my furnace running again. I ordered a second igniter and have it on hand. Watch a couple of videos and you can do this, it isn't hard.

this style of igniter found to last longer
tried different types/shapes of universal igniters and this one turned out to last the longest for me.not necessary this manufacturer just the body style better than the spiral or flat ... onesthose seem to burn out fasterand yes our furnace does work a lot - it is a long cold winter here.

Is it reasonable to keep the ignition stick on all the time?
Just finished installation, but the ignition stick will remain on. Is it reasonable?
