This remote control worked beautifully with my 11-year old Sony KDL-40EX500 right out of the box. No programming required. HOWEVER, be advised, it may not be your remote control that is broken. It could be the infrared sensor on the TV set itself that sees the remote control signals that is broken. There may be a test for remote controls. If you view the front of your current remote control through the camera of your cell phone and push some of the remote control buttons, you are supposed to be able to see the infrared light that it is putting out. If you see the pulses of light, it's the TV sensor that is broken and not your current remote control.

My husband and I spent an hour trying to open it to put batteries in. No success. Sending it back.

It works but its made with a very cheap material and it takes a while for it to send the commands to the TV. Not great I would say say it’s like a disposable remote you can get while I find the original one.. I wasn’t able to connect the voice remote feature..

I lost the remote to my Sony big screen TV. This replacement looks and works exactly like the original.
