GORE WEARC5 Thermo Gloves GORE-TEX

The gloves are very comfortable and well-made.I agree with the reviews that said they run small. I always fit an XL glove well but ended up returning these for XXL The XL could have worked but felt a but too snug.Other than that, these are perfect for cold winter rides on my MTB. I stay pretty warm even down to 18 or so degrees F. For road biking, of course, it would be a different story but I don't think any non-heated glove would be warm on the road at those temps.

To preface this review, I’m a road cyclist and in good weather I ride about 200 miles a week, give or take. In the winter that has dropped to 170. I ride pre-dawn, so that means temps are consistently in the 20s and teens. I am constantly on the lookout for gloves good enough to keep the wind, created by my speed traveling through the air, at bay while still allowing my hands to operate the brakes and gears. All gloves fail to do this. Mitts that go over the bars (hoods/drops) are the only solution in extreme cold. Don't waste your money buying gloves if you are committed to riding through the winter. Get big mitts that fit over your handle bars. You can buy them on Amazon. That said, I'm always hoping to find a glove that can let me go a little bit colder without using the bar mitts because they are goofy, reduce hand positions, and aren't aero. With that in mind, here’s the review of these gloves!I have about 400 miles with these gloves and the durability has been excellent. I bought these in the Warehouse section for about 1/3 the cost. I'm a size small in most gloves these days, with giro being my most owned brand of cycling gloves. These small gloves fit more like an extra small. They work for road cycling but that is about it. I can't comfortably open my hand super wide, which I don't need to do on my road bike, so these gloves work, just barely. If I was paying full price I would have returned for a medium.Do they work in the cold? Yes, to a point. I've worn them without bar mitts down to about 25 for 20-30 mile rides. The first 7 miles or so, my fingers get super cold and numb. This is normal! At those temps your body does not prioritize your fingers for blood flow until you get nice and warm! After 7-8 miles, I can feel the blood flow starting to go back to my fingers and I am good for the rest of the ride. I am always worried that my fingers will not come back, though that has never happened. I own other cold weather gloves and in similar conditions, I experience the same thing. Numb fingers until I get get good and warmed up is the norm for me. These gloves meet or slightly exceed my expectations on their windproof and warmth claims.Are they waterproof? In my one extremely wet ride, yes they were. I don't go out and ride in the poring rain on purpose. Just too messy and dangerous for my taste. Yet, it sometimes happens. I miss judged the radar and ended up doing about 15 miles in the soaking cold rain. Temps were just above freezing. I could poor water out of my cycling shoes by the end. My hands stayed dry. The wicking and breath ability is pretty good too. I am impressed by the waterproofing of these gloves! Now, they do soak up water but it doesn't get through. Would they hold up for hour after hour? I don't know and I'll never find out because I'll head home before I do 2-3 hours in the rain.So, the sizing is an issue, as well as the cost. These are expensive gloves! Wait for a sale or buy in the warehouse. $90 is too much and they won't stop your hands from freezing in extreme cold, or even that initial 20 minutes in the mid 20s (bar mitts are the way). The other major gripe I have is the snot wipe area. Why they can't put it on the big knuckle of the thumb area, like literally every other cycling glove ever made, is beyond my understanding. Instead, it is narrowly along the thumb, web area, and index finger. Narrow and thin are words I'd use to describe this. Not big enough and in the wrong place. You end up rubbing your nose on the regular glove material, which is not comfy on your delicate nose skin. Also, since the wipe are is not tucked away on your lower thumb knuckle/hand area, and rather on parts of your hand that you use while cycling or doing other things (like shaking hands), you get snot on whatever you grab. Yuck! This is a major miss and the main reason why I didn't give this glove a 5 star review.I dinged gore on the snot area pretty good but they got the Velcro right on these gloves, something most other companies miss. They use that low profile Velcro which is much less prone to grab on stuff. Also, the grabby side is on the strap, rather than the body of the glove. This means that if you don't have the strap all the way on the body velcro cinched down tight, the bit left over won't grab on stuff. This is great because fleece and spandex do not mix well with velcro. Major win for Gore!In conclusion, dexterity, warmth, and waterproofing is excellent for my uses. These won't keep your hands warm sub 20s, but no glove alone will. That said, they are just about the best glove I've tried. I can forgive the sizing and the price but the snot wipe area is unforgivable. Gore needs to fix this to make the perfect cold weather cycling glove.

My rides are only an hour long; so maybe if you wear them in heavy rain for 8 hours they will soak through. But after one hour in heavy rain, my hands are completely dry. This is the first set of "waterproof" gloves I have purchased that have delivered on the promise.As others have noted...size up! I measure on the border of M and L; I usually get L to have a little room. But I got these in XL and they still seem just a tiny bit tight.

I measured my hand per Gore's sizing guide instructions and matched with size small. Noting the reviews that say these run small I ordered a medium and they were still too small. These gloves are often advertised as cycling gloves which was my intended use. Cycling gloves need to have ample room in the material between the tip of the first finger and tip of thumb. Any restriction in this area results in limited reach to the brake levers and pressure on the tips of the thumb and finger. This area was very tight and I didn't try exchanging for a large because I thought it might still be too tight. For use other than cycling the glove is high quality and warm.

I've been through so many pairs of cold weather bike gloves I can't keep track. I saw these and decided to take the expensive gamble on a brand name I trust. I was not let down.These gloves are light weight, but boy do they work. It was 21 degrees F when I tried them for the first time. The first couple minutes I was a little worried, so be patient...the magic starts once you begin working. I rode 30 miles, 3.5 hours, and my hands were the warmest ever in such temps.The fit is true to size, with a little extra room at the ends of the fingers and thumbs so when you are gripping the handlebars they don't restrict your movement.

Great for being outside in the rain and cold for hours on end. Cannot use a cell phone with them. They are slightly puffy like a lightweight snow glove.

for every other glove brand i wear a size medium. for this glove i tried the large - but it was still too small. i had to go to the XL. which fits better - but the fingers are too long.

While my palms and the backs of my hands stayed warm, my fingers were never warm and comfortable. They only got colder throughout my ride, which I aborted after and an hour. Temperature was degrees, 31 degree wind chill and 55% humidity.

measured my hands based on the gore wear websites instructions for their gloves. measured 7.75", which was in the XS or S gloves range. I'm a tall woman with avg hands, as in, I don't have particularly long fingers or chubby hands, but never in my life have I fit anything XS, that's for petit people.... I ordered a small pair,. the palm surface of the glove does not cover the length of my palm. the fingers are a good length, but the thumb is short. Ordered the mediums next, the fingers still fit, the palm is better, not perfect, and the thumb is still short. Sigh. maybe I'll try the large... maybe. There is no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks that the mediums would fit anyone's hands that measure 8.7" around the widest part, which is what the gorewear website claims.

I purchased these gloves because I do military training early in the morning when it quite cold. These gloves are very durable, keep your hands warm and dry. They are very easy to clean and they dry quite rapidly.
