I saw someone on YouTube recommend these for a home water filtration system. They are very good!

In the photo you can see the color of our "CITY" water, and on the right you can see how it looks after the clay filter collected all the minerals and deposits. Better taste, clean clear glacier looking water. My wife was a skeptic, but once I showed her what she's been drinking and what I am now drinking, I found a pitcher on the counter and her request to fill it with the filtered water from my home made filtration system. If you value your health and the state of affairs with our water, this is not a bad choice. My new one will have two small buckets, one each with the clay filter in them and a 5 gallon bucket to collect the filtered water. Such a great taste, and cheaper than bottled water by far.

filter works fine but the threaded outlet nipple is too soft and the threads strip easily. I found a brass nut that fits nice and tight and i use teflon tape and its fine now.

I got these to create a drinking water system for the deer lease. I had a similar set up in the Peace Corps in Africa in the 90's and wanted to recreate this easy to use but effective system. These fit the bill. I was able to create two setups that work well, one for the lease and one for my "prepper" stash in the attic. Just get some 5 gallon buckets and create a top bucked that this sits in (after you drill a hole for the outlet) and one bucket below with a spigot to control the water flow. To be sure your water supply is good for drinking, boil before you put in the filter bucket. So between these filters and the boil process, you will be good to go.

I use these filters to clean isopropyl alcohol used for cleaning resin 3d prints. Its designed for larger filter set ups, the weight of the fluid above helps push it through, with my small DIY container it filters slowly, but can do a gallon in 1-2 days. When it was full it did about 1/4 gallon in an hour, but slowed down as less and less was on the top.Its never leaked and has easily saved me $100 in alcohol. My filter is still going strong.
