The Definitive Collection

For fans or Alan Parsons Project, this is an excellent compilation of their music. I also bought one for each of the adult children for music history or this time. Would highly recommend as APP was incredible at that time and it is hard to find this artistic and musical talent.

Terrific box collection for APP fans. Features a wide variety of early material from I Robot, Eye in the Sky,Turn of a Friendly Card, Pyramid, Tales of Imagination and Mystery, and more. This is a great set to load up the phone and cruise with.

Great band! Both CD's play well!

The Alan Parsons Project released several incredible albums in the late 70s, after which the band lost momentum and became something less than what it had been. The great albums include "Tales of Mystery and Imagination," "I Robot," "Turn of a Friendly Card," and to a somewhat lesser extent, "Eve" and "Pyramid." The Definitive Collection contains good sounding renditions of many classics from early days, when the band was at its best. The first disc is incredible. Not a bad song. Disc two is disappointing. There's way too much stuff from the 80s. This just isn't the band's strongest material. I'm thinking more songs from "Tales" and "Robot" should have been included. As result, this is a good, not great, collection. Buy it, but know it could be better.

Every cut is a gem from start to finish. All the vocalists are top caliber. The instrumentals are superb. My favorite selections: Time, Sirius/Eye in The Sky, Mammagamma, Don't Answer Me. Prime Time, The Traveler, Standing on Higher Ground. I have played this CD in my car with teenage passengers and they love it as well and have bought some of the albums.

This is a very comprehensive collection, and the sound quality is excellent. For a casual fan like myself, it has everything one would expect on a compilation of this sonically impressive band. As a previous poster alluded, the import version for sale ( The Definitive Collection ) lacks the first two songs: "System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether" and "Raven." While this is a drawback, the import is less expensive than the domestic release, so you can save some money if you aren't attached to the two missing songs.

A great collection, full of nostalgia for memorable music that you don't hear on the radio often today. If you recall any of these songs, just do it. Love hearing it pop up in my shuffles!

When they say it's the definitive collection, they're not kidding. Amazing bargain for the money. I just saw Alan Parsons in concert (for the first and probably last time ever), and very much enjoyed reliving some of the songs they did live, and getting a reminder of just how great this music is. The thing I usually hate about "best of" type albums is they seldom contain my favorites, which very often are the pure instrumentals. This one has pretty much all the instrumentals, which is pretty necessary in the case of AP, since it's all about the music with him.

I love Alan Parsons and this CD has all his best songs on it, really good value.

Alan Parsons had so many great songs, I own his first five albums but I had to have this collection because it was a good price and there were a number of songs I didn't know. What a great collection of his hits, I love them all, would highly recommend. The delivery was very prompt as well.
