A Great Alaskan Read!
I bought and devoured One Water!! It is a beautiful coming-of-age work that really speaks to what it's like to discover Alaska and forge a relationship with the wilderness we all fall in love with when we move here from somewhere else. Rob does a wonderful job of showing the evolution of that relationship as he carves out a place for himself in Alaska over the years. It's a uniquely Alaskan story but hung on a theme that all people can relate to. I hope many people discover and read One Water!!!

This book really puts you inside the author's head, with colorful writing and frank assessment of life on display in Alaska

Interesting life in the 'Last Frontier'.
As far as I can tell, this is the first book for author Rob McCue. It's an extremely good first effort. He's a talented and introspective writer. The book is a series of autobiographical sketches, divided by chapter. Each chapter is capable of standing alone, sort of a book of short (and not so short) stories. McCue is a late bloomer as an author, but I'd bet he's written journals for himself for many years. He's a keen observer of people and nature and his writing will hold your interest. That is, providing your interests at least somewhat parallel his - Alaska, personal growth, human nature, and getting into the bush. (Mine do.)By the end of the book however, the writing and ideas get a little repetitive. I'm left wondering if he has more in him as a writer than strictly personal experiences. I certainly hope so, because I for one would come back for more.Recommended.
