Pies & Prejudice (The Mother-Daughter Book Club)

This Is a Wonderful Series!
I discovered this series of books at the library." Dear Pen Pal" was the first one that I read (it's actually third in the series), and I was hooked! I could hardly wait to read the others, because references were made about events from the first two books in "Pen Pal". I've now read all five, including "Home for the Holidays". This is a great series of books, especially for this day and time. There are no instances of smoking, drinking, or sex. The characters have crushes, and an occasional kiss, but that's as far as it goes.(Very unusual for recently written books!) The characters are modern teenagers who all have endearing as well as annoying qualities. Their personalities and interests are varied, but they are still friends and share the common bond of being in the book club with their moms. I especially liked how the moms and grandmoms that were in the club were involved with and cared about all of the girls, not just their own offspring. I think this series would appeal to readers of the Baby-Sitter Club books. Girls who have enjoyed those books but are ready for a more challenging reading level would find "The Mother-Daughter Book Club" to be very interesting and easy to relate to, in my opinion. Hopefully, girls will be also be inspired to read or re-read books by Alcott, Austen, Montgomery and Lovelace, and perhaps even begin their own clubs. Thanks to Ms. Frederick for writing this wonderful series! I hope there are more books in the future!

Move aside Harry Potter, the Mother Daughter book club is coming through!
Pies and Prejudice starts with a devistating blow.... Emma's moving to England for the year. She's swaping houses with the two cutest british boys around... to bad for Cassidy one is the modern day version of Mr.Darcy (who she thinks is the worst character in the story#. Megan falls head over heals for the younger brother but her fashion blog could seriously streach thier relashionship. Jess has been shoveled into life so hard she can't get out, and the only one she wants to pull her up is Darcy...but he might always think of her as his little sister's friend. In England Emma is damaged by Annabelle #or Stinkerbell as Emma calls her) an identical twin of Savannah Sinclair from last year. But, things might be looking up for her and Sweart until a bad picture shows up and might just split them up for good. Another blow comes when death comes knocking on the door of one of the book club members. The book club is left, never to be the same. If you have not read ANY of the other books, pick one up. If you were not sure if reading this book is your thing, it is. Get a copy of the story today, love it from the time you pick it up intil the day you die. Don't put it down until the last page has passed over your finger.

Pies and prejudice spoiler alert
I loved this book it is like all the other Mother daughter book club books. When Emma and her family moves to England and Emma gets bullied the Concord girls step in the raise money by doing a small company called pies and prejudice. They make all different kinds of pies and soon they have southernmost they need to send Emma home to concord for spring break. Emma's parents decide to chip in and send Emma's brother Darcy also. A good friend of Cassidy Mrs. Bergeron dies and part of her will is to give money to the mother daughter bok club things are great the mother daughter book club travels to England and there they see Emma and her family and go see. lots of things that have to do with Jane Austen.

Best series I've read!!
I LOVE this book series!! These years are just ahead for me so enjoy them very much! I love the little touches of romance here and there amd all the adventures they take! Reading these books makes me want to be in a mother-daughter book club with myself and my mom.I have just finished the series and I couldn't put any of the books down from the moment I started!I also think it is nice that Cassidy's story is the most emmotional even though she is the rough & tough one in the book club. All in all I think this is a great series and I would reccomend it to anyone!!

Great Read!
i have been reading this series ever since I was twelve, when I was looking for some bigger books than what I normally read in Barne & Nobles. I found the second one, since I didn't know this was a series, and I really liked it. Later,I went to buy the first one, which I loved even more. Ever since then, I've been stalking Heather Frederick's site for MDBC updates. I am now fourteen and I loved this book! I hope she makes another one, because, besides the fact that the writting is amazing, is something different than what the YA authors are writting these days. I gave this book 4/5, because I it wasn't as great as the last three, but it was still ah-ma-zing. If you haven't read this, I really recommend this series!

Bravo for The Mother-Daughter Book Club and for Jane Austen!!!
This is definitely one of my favorites of the series, it's all about Jane Austen in Pies and Prejudice and the girls go to ENGLAND!! The desserts in this book are so yummy sounding and the girls really grow up :) There is some hand holding and a first kiss, one baby fox, one HILARIOUS parrot, and a twist at the end that really amazed me! Just love the Mother-Daughter Book Club, yay for Jane Austen!!

I Love These Books
I love this series so far, and I will continue loving it for sure! I have "Home for the Holidays" out, and I can't wait to start it! I suggest this to eight and over because there aren't really very many mature topics, but as the series progresses, it becomes a higher reading level. There are some romantic spots and love is highly involved, but there is not inappropriate content. Enjoy! -Kate
