RockportMen's Northfield Waterproof Oxford

I like a more traditional walking shoe. After reading other reviews, I was not sure that I would like these, but with my previous experience with Rockports being very positive, I decided to take a chance. The shoes arrived we packaged and in excellent condition. The size is perfect and and I love the sole--lugged but also cushioned. The look is traditional, and so far, they have held up well.Some other reviewers commented that the look was "pleather" rather than leather. Having had shoes from other makers (Johnston and Murphy, Allen Edmonds), this is waterproofed leather. It has a different sheen than natural leather, but does a great job of repelling water.All in all, I highly recommend this shoe.

The color was spot on and the shoe is comfortable. Took away one star for the laces. It has only been two months and the laces are falling apart.

These are great looking shoes and despite my initial feeling that they would be harder than I liked, they wore extremely comfortably. Most shoes I have to use a cushion insert -- not so with these. Color I like a lot and fits almost anything and they're flexible enough to be worn almost anywhere but dressy enough so as not to need too many steps up, unless you're going full-on formal. $80 is a pretty good price for these...right now, anyway. It may change and I will update as necessary.Update 01.20.14After months of wearing this as my go-to shoe for outside visits, four days ago was the first time I've had to polish them, so they wear extremely well. They are pretty comfy, even for extended periods of standing/walking and they have been notably good to wear in the elements. I suspect they will be too hot for the warmer months, but this is doing pretty much all of the heavy lifting for me during the cooler months, with occasional spelling by the Doc Martens (also reviewed here) when I want a slight color/look change. Easily the best dressy shoe I've owned.

The tongue does not irritate my ankle, the back doesn't rub on my heal. No points that irritate or hurt my feet anywhere. I bought a pair of Rockport Eureka men's walk shoes and they were the worst shoe I have ever worn, the tongue was too thick and jabbed the top of my ankle and I was in severe pain after wearing these shoes. But this pair of men's Northfield does not have any design flaw and are very comfortable with no hot spots, poking or rubbing my feet and causing any pain.

The leather and construction of the shoes looks very high quality. The cushioning of the shoes when I walk in them is amazing. The tread provides great traction and should prevent any slipping in wet conditions.

These shoes are lightweight and comfortable, and a good value.Sizing is true. They appear to be well made. Packaging was excellent and shipping was rapid.I would recommend this to anyone looking for a business casual shoe.

Check out the reviews on this product and you'll notice that while the average is high, the *recent* reviews are rather poor. Why? Rockport decided to increase their profit by drastically downgrading the quality of the shoe. The soles are no longer made of high quality materials, but are now made of cheap foam rubber designed to wear out in less than a year (and they do).Not only does this make them cheaper to manufacture, but it also means you'll have to replace them more often. Good for you, Rockport. The timing of the shoe going down hill and the purchase of Rockport by Adidas seems to somewhat coincide. In the absence of ability to improve their product or manufacturing processes, I guess the only way the Adidas MBAs can keep paying themselves mid-six-figures a year for doing nothing is by selling an increasingly inferior product and screwing their customers. This kind of BS is what passes for business innovation these days, and why corporate profits stay healthy despite a moribund economy as we keep getting less and less for our money, a "hidden inflation" nobody wants to talk about. The only people benefiting are the management class who orchestrate this charade.Sorry for the rant in the middle of a shoe review, but the reason these shoes now suck and some of the problems with our economy are one in the same. These shoes seem cheap, but it's a false economy we pay for on the second and third pair of shoes we need to buy to make these last as long as they used to. Rant aside, you'll do yourself a favor if you vote with your dollar to buy a shoe made by a company that has some respect for its customers.UPDATE: I'd hoped that maybe I could at least have the soles replaced, and "build" a decent shoe that way. Experiment failed. Everything on the shoe is made so cheaply that the whole thing is starting to wear out, even though the shoe is only a few months old! There is a tear in a seam in the upper, the laces are shot (ok, that could be fixed) and the treads are already almost entirely worn off. So, it's now official: I will never buy another pair of Rockports again.

I’ve been wearing Rockport Northfields for almost 10 years. The soles are solid construction and the shoe itself is very durable and waterproof. I work retail and I’m on my feet all day. The Northfield is a perfect shoe for anyone on their feet a lot.The only complaint I have is the shoelaces fray within 6 months to a year. Every pair of Northfields I’ve owned have had problems with the shoe laces. It shouldn’t happen on a shoe that is less than a year old

La entrega puntual. Excelente calidad y diseño del producto. Este es mi segundo par de zapatos Rockport y siempre quedan bien; son cómodos y de gran calidad, el color marrón es más cercano al tono caramelo de lo que aparentan las imágenes. La suela del zapato es negra y hace un gran contraste con el color del cuero. La talla es precisa ( en mi caso 28.5 mx) Seguro que volveré a comprar otro par de otro color; y no dudo en recomendarlos.
