See https://www.acrartex.com/media/1376913/y1-06-0290-rev-c.pdf instruction card for directions. It turns on as a strobe, If you immediately turn it off and back on it is a steady light, repeat the off/on toggle again for SOS mode. **Q: What type of batteries powers these?** A: Two AA batteries. I recommend lithium for their long shelf life. **Q: can I use this on my vest to go snorkeling?** A: According to the ACR spec sheet the Firefly is factory tested waterproof to 33ft (10M) depth. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bright, unobtrusive! Important! *by D***Y on September 1, 2026* Good for its intended purpose! Emergency items let me kayak on open water knowing if I should, worst case, be separated from my boat, I can still me seen. 👍🏼 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Quality and Super Bright *by T***N on September 9, 2017* Needed a replacement for my firefly from like 15 years ago and its the perfect size and super easy to set up .... I live in a hurricane battered part of the world and this is a critical part of my EDC and Go-Bag! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exactly what I needed. *by R***O on September 6, 2026* ACR builds Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELT) for aircraft, and this is also aviation grade. Sturdy, well built, and perfectly fits the strap on my backpack. It works on AA batteries, but recommends using lithium ion, which I absolutely concur with. As an emergency tool, I hope that I never have to use it, but have complete confidence in it if needed. FYI, when you test it, do not look directly at the strobe, unless you want to temporarily blind yourself. Ask me how I know……..😳 ## Frequently Bought Together - The ACR Firefly PRO LED Military Grade Strobe Light features SOS and Steady-On modes, SOLAS, USCG, and MED Approvals, Offering Exceptional High-Visibility Signaling in Emergencies - 3970.3 - LuxoGear Emergency Whistles with Lanyard Safety Whistle Survival Shrill Loud Blast for Kayak Life Vest Jacket Boating Fishing Boat Camping Hiking Hunting Rescue Signaling Kids Lifeguard Plastic 2 Pack - ACR C-Strobe LED Life Jacket Emergency Signal with Clip & Velcro Strap, USCG & Solas Approved.
