Double bill of classic war films. The first is about a group of British P.O.Ws who are forced to build a bridge in Burma for the Japanese, directed by David Lean. Meanwhile, a British commando team is sent to destroy it. Alec Guinness, Jack Hawkins and Sessue Hayakawa also star. In the second film an international group of soldiers go on a mission to take out the huge guns of Navarone. Clint Eastwood stars.

Excellent Blu Ray renditions of two superb WWII war movies.
The Blu Ray picture and sound quality in each movie is excellent. The Bridge on the River Kwai captures the horror of this actual Japanese prisoner of war camp during WW II. Most prisoners there died from diseases, overwork, and starvation. Some key scenes in the movie are fiction, but the overall story of courage and survival in the midst of death in the camp is real and a story worth seeing. A friend's Father survived this terrible camp and I was fortunate enough to read his diary about life and death in the camp. Overall, the movie accurately reflects the camp. The second movie, Guns of Navarone. is fiction but it is a great WW II commando action movie. It is one of my favoriteI movies. Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn, David Niven and other actors give excellent performance.

Terrific Double Feature
I love this two movie package, both with incredible Blue Ray features! Of the two movies, Bridge On The River Kwai is much, much stronger. The jungle is so real, the cinematography captures every leaf on every tree. And the performances are so powerful, and capture so much humanity. Everything from the laid back American sex appeal of William Holden to the terrible loneliness and dignity of the great Alec Guinness. The last forty minutes have the most suspense of any World War II classic, and the arrival of the train is literally explosive!I wasn't so crazy about Guns of Navarone. It's too long and the action scenes are too sporadic. But this two movie package on Blu Ray was an incredible bargain!
