Unbelievable!
Wow, just speechless for this bike light.Back story: Before buying this I had an accident which broke off one of my previous light's mount, the light works but no device to mount it on really. It was inexpensive light which was decent as it was my first bike light, For those interested it is " Blitzu Gator 380 Usb Rechargeable POWERFUL Lumen Bike Light Set with FREE LED TAIL LIGHT, Waterproof, Easy Installation Headlight Flashlight for Cycling Safety " which came with a decent tail light and for the price it was good as it was my first bike accessory I have gotten. It served me well and I keep it as a spare emergency pocket light now.Since the accident I stopped biking for a while as it was a bad month for biking in the city with the snow and heavy wind. Also since it was my first and major crash which ended me up with stitches and getting back into biking was a bit unsettling for about 3 weeks or so and a broken headlight mount.Purchasing decisions: When I was looking for a new bike light I wanted something strong and sturdy as well as higher Lumens as I learned light measurement and what lumens were. At first I was going for the CatEye Volt 1600 for which I already purchased a " CatEye Rapid X3 Rear Safety Light " and thought it would be nice to match it up. However the feature and price were way off for my liking, as well as other competitors. I also hated the idea of adding more cables to my bike for adding a Light/Battery combo set up which I contemplated on and mostly try to avoid all together. Still the Volt 1600 was on my radar, and then looked at their other lights which is Volt 1200 and 700 they both were cheaper option but still ... I contemplated.I when on Google and on YouTube for bike lights and what were good the options. the volt 700, 1200, 1600 where highly recommended and reviewed and then came this option on an ad and then looked for comparisons and pro and cons. Both of them were very similar in every way possible except this one (BC30R) was somewhere between the Volt 1200 and Volt 1600. What really got me interested was the remote pressure switch, the OLED light was a nice addition too but the pressure switch what was that about?TAKE MY MONEY!: Yes ... I learned the usefulness of the remote pressure switch (Burst) and how awesome it is for saving overall battery life on your light. I bought it, and when I got it I was in love with it the first few night of riding it.Use Case:Burst: 1600 Lumens – 1 hr 45 min.High: 800 Lumens – 2 hrs. 35 min.Med.: 500 Lumens – 4 hrs. 30 min.Low: 200 Lumens – 11 hrs. 50 min.Eco: 100 Lumens – 20 hrs. 20 min.So I decided to use the lowest which isLvl 1 Eco setting in general when during on the early night as the sun start to settle down which gives a run time of 20 hours or so. When it start getting darker I move up.Lvl 2 Low: which sit for about 11 hours or so, which is a decent lighting in the city road when mostly everything it lid up.Lvl 3 Med: is bright, as bright as my Blitzu Gator 380 on max and it's about 4 hours of runtime don't quite see myself using this brightness unless in a very dark roads or shortcut cutting through city blocks or houses.Lastly, I have found myself using lv 3 Med: and sometimes lv 4 High: to go off road and trails. I see everything quite well and very clear.Alright, it's all good but I haven't even mentioned the remote pressure switch (Burst), why getting all hyped up about it and not talk about it? Well ... I do use it quite often and it is mostly when I use level 1 or 2 while I am cycling around town. It is use to keep drivers on the road. My main uses is when I am going through stop signs and sometimes city traffic lights as it is common around my area to see a few drivers gunning it for the yellow light. Also when there are pedestrians on the trails or road way into my apartment building, I use the high beam (Burst) to flash in quick succession. I know drivers hates flashing head lights in general and can be dangerous for both drivers and cyclist. However there are times when you need to use your light as an indicator or warning to others to let them know that up ahead of them or coming toward them. It also claims to have 1600 lumens. I can't measure it or know if it true but it does turn heads around which works well, too well sometimes. Which also works when the unit it turned off, press the Turbo/Burst button and all 1600 lumen in all it's glory ... for up to 20 seconds.Review time:Alright let go to the meat of this section. Is it good, yes I think so. Is it worth it? When it come to my safety at night commuting to work and home as well as biking in general. I say it is worth it. The OLED might not seem useful to other people but to me it beats the guess work on how much power the unit has and if I should go up or lower on lumen. Also I doubt it will consume that much battery life in general as OLED is very efficient on emery consumption and good viewing angles. The light's color is a soft neutral white color as well as a nice blend between the the light pattern from the center spreading out to the side.It does not throw the light far as others from what I read but I can clearly notice street signs from over 500 feet away and that is very far to me.Power button, + and - Buttons as well as the Turbo (Burst) button do glow in the dark, it's a soft dull blue effect, as far as I am aware it a glow in the dark material and it isn't drawing any power from the unit itself. I tried taking a picture of it but the camera does not pick it up.The "con" that I found with this device is can be subjective really. The Micro USB port is recessed into the body of the light so finding a micro USB cord with a small head is a most, otherwise it will be too bulky to insert into the connector to recharge it. While charging the power + and - button do tend to flash repeatedly as well as the OLED gives a battery charging icon that wont go away unless it is unplugged. Other than that I can not really complain much about it, being twice the size than the Blitzu and much heavier is a compromise I can live with, I love it.Verdict:It may not be a top dog but can surely compete with them and give them a run for their money. I do highly recommend it for anyone who can afford it. Cyclist, Commuters and hobbyist alike. Especially for those finding themselves riding in the dark. You may be able to see others, but in the dark they can't see you.

Mount not strong enough for mountain biking
I use this for mountain biking on technical trails at night. Beam pattern for trail riding is good, nice and wide. Light has adequate brightness, not the brightest out there but plenty. The gauge showing the amount of time left in the battery helps manage light usage. There are two main issues with this light: the mount is not strong enough to hold the light in extremely rough trails, nor is there a helmet mount compatibility - bar mount only. My light has fallen off twice, friend who has same light has also had it fall off multiple times - he returned his. They need to redesign this mount to truly be mountain bike worthy. We have taken to using zip-ties and velcro straps to secure the light to the bar for added security. Other than that this is a great light for the price. Burst mode not worth the trouble of the added wire.

A Powerful, Feature Laden Light But Too Heavy if You Race
This is a very good light. Whether it's worth $140 I am not certain. Out of the box, it took about 5 hours to fully charge, hooked up to a powered USB hub. The light feels very well made and is a bit heavy. I have a Lezyne 900 lumen light on my other bike and this one is much heavier. The mounting bracket is very sturdy and easy to use. It is much thinker plastic than normal and is tightened with a thumb screw. The dual beam set-up is great. It provides both wide angle lighting closer up and distance lighting. The 1600 lumen pulse feature is great. With a remote push button, maximum brightness is available on demand. This feature is great not only to provide a blast of bright light when you need to see better, but also can be used to attract the attention of others. I also like the battery status indicator. I have not used the light long enough to assess the long-term accuracy, but it seems pretty accurate for the time I have used the light. The plus/minus buttons also provide a great way to change the brightness without accidentally changing the lighting mode. I do not race, so I don't consider the weight to be an issue at all. But, there are 2 things I am not thrilled with: First, changing from the pulse/flash mode to the steady mode requires 2 pushes of the power button. The timing of those 2 pushes takes some getting used to to avoid turning off the light altogether. But, since I rarely have to switch between flash and steady, that isn't too big a concern. The second thing (which is not that uncommon) is that, although the angle of the light can be adjusted left to right, tilt cannot be adjusted. Since my handlebars angle down slightly to the stem, the light is tilted down toward the left side. While this doesn't really seem to impact the light pattern noticeably, I don't like the look of the slightly tilted light, which is made more noticeable by the rectangular shape of the light. Maybe I'm a bit too ODC. Anyway, this is the best of several high-end lights I've tried and, unless weight is super critical to you, I highly recommend it.

The mount for this unit is terrible. It doesn't lock adequately or hold the light ...
The mount for this unit is terrible. The costumer service from Fenix has been terrible. It doesn't lock adequately or hold the light firmly in place at all. With the BC30R aimed slightly downward to avoid blinding other folks using the roads and pathways, the mass of the light/battery combo is too much and it slides forward in the mount. The plastic clip does not prevent the unit from vibrating out of the handlebar mount. Mine has fallen out more than a few times. The light is excellent otherwise.
