Walk Through Fire (The Chaos Series Book 4)

More like two and a half stars...
Here is the thing with this book...I could have really liked the story. In the very beginning of the book, the H absolutely HUMILIATES the h terribly. I had a hard time thinking that a character that would disrespect a female to such a degree would be redeemable but KA is an awesome author so I gave it a shot. Unfortunately, the H's treatment of the h did not improve much. At that point I really disliked both of them, the H for developing into an misogynistic, emotionally abusive character and the h for her need to keep coming back for more. In real life, if this was your sister, you would drag her to counseling to help her get out of an emotionally abusive relationship. I kept reading because KA wrote Golden Dynasty who also had a caveman-like H character that I loved in the end. So I put my faith in her writing talent and kept reading. Unfortunately, the story never redeemed the H like the H in Golden Dynasty. It was very disappointing. There was a point in the book where I had my hopes up that the h was going to kick butt for all womankind and make this H pay. I was crushed by the disappointing realization that was not going to happen. I hope in the name of all that is holy that there are not woman out there who have men treat them like this guy and then find no problems having breakfast in bed with them as though that makes up for the abysmal abuse that the h suffered under the hands of the H. As a female, I cannot help feel that the line of disrespect was crossed way too far in this book almost to the point of romantasing a very unhealthy relationship.

Kristen Ashley writes the best drama, angst
Walk Through Fire was an emotional read!Kristen Ashley writes the best drama, angst, humor, sisterhood/ brotherhood, redemption stories. It’s a given, any second chance romance she writes is going to be heart wrenching but in the end, taking the journey with the H/H would be satisfying .Millie and Logan met and fell in love one night at a party. They soon moved in together and shared their lives for 3 magnificent years. But one day, Millie sent Logan away. She told him she wanted more to life that being tied to an outlaw biker.Logan walked away. He didn’t question Millie, he didn’t follow his gut that was telling him something was wrong. He didn’t turn back.Millie sent Logan away and he followed his broken heart and left.23 years later Millie sees Logan at a store. She decides to tell him the truth. The road back wasn’t easy. Chaos accepted Millie with open arms, and when she left Logan, he felt the lose deeply, he sought action to the extreme, went chasing after danger at any cost. But at some point something changed. Logan (AKA High, so nicknamed for his love of getting high) got a woman pregnant. They decided to get married and had 2 daughters. The book starts with Millie seeing Logan after 23 years, hearing his conversation with his ex. Learning Logan has 2 daughters makes Millie act. She seeks Logan at every possible place she knows, intent on telling him the truth.Logan isn’t having it. He is cruel, crude and mean to her. They end up having angry sex at various points of the book. We know the emotion is there we just don’t know what happened. When Kristen Ashley takes us back in time and shares memories (from both POV's) you are laughing, happy, sad, on the edge of your sit. Because you know, that the great love and affection they had for each other, wasn’t enough. When things blow, its in a spectacular way!!Millie is devastated and I actually HATED Hop, Tack and the rest of the Chaos brothers for hurting her the way they did. But it’s the turning point we were waiting for.Millie tells Logan she has walked through fire for him for 23 years and she isn’t wrong. The reason behind the breakup will leave you gutted and in tears. After that storm, Logan (as he was always Logan to Millie, High only to his brothers and the rest of the world) does everything in his power to get Millie back.He understands her reasons for leaving and agrees he might have done the same.He again becomes a part of Millie's life, he pushes her to remember the girl she was, live, laugh, have adventures, party with friends and live life to the fullest.Logan introduces her to his 2 daughters, the youngest of which has a hard time accepting her. But Millie handles herself with style.I loved seeing Millie and Logan re-connect after so many years. So many things remained the same, but at the same time, a lot has changed .They grew and matured. But what stayed the same was the love they had for one another.Logan and Millie will win you over twice in one book.

I just love this book
I really just love this book. It’s one of the few that I actually enjoy rereads of. I will admit that I’m pretty hit or miss with this author, but man do I like this one.Things I like:I love that this couple has such a history with each other. I love that they are older, and that it’s a second chance love story. I also like that you get to see flashes of their past at some of the ends of the chapters which adds a lot of depth and context. This book starts out really rough to be honest. Millie is such a complex character, even though she lives an intentionally small life. She really is just a shell of who she used to be. She breaks my heart all the time. And when she goes to Logan and they start their little game, man she breaks my heart A LOT. I wanted to hate Logan, I really did, he was so cruel to her, but he’s operating without a lot of information and so while I don’t agree with what he does, I also know that he never stopped caring for her and he was lashing at because he was hurt.I liked that this isn’t a story about how they go back together but more of a story about putting their lives together. You get to see all the messy parts. There is no sugar coating. Bringing kids into the equation, baggage from 20 years of MC life, working out the kinks with friends, and all that stuff that gets left out of a lot of romances. I also like that it isn’t hearts and flowers once they reunite. Millie isn’t secure right away. And over time they start to find out things about each other and some of that process is painful, it makes the whole thing just read a lot more true. I like that there is an underlying plot with the MC but that it doesn’t overpower the real story of these two coming back together.Things I didn’t like:Honestly, while I’m sure there are things I didn’t love, the things I did love overpowered everything else so I have no complaints.

Copy received via netgalley in exchange for an honest reviewOhh, I was so nervous to start this book. It seemed like it may be overly angsty, and I do not do overly angsty very well. But then we all know I LOVE a lovers reunited second chance romance. So, Mille and Logan had been in love, and not just in love but IN LOVE. They were each others one. When Millie, out of the blue ended it, and in such a way to almost destroy Logan and make him think the 3 years they had had together had been a lie.So when Millie goes to Logan, after 20 years deciding it is time to move on and explain her reasons, Logan, and his "brothers" do not react well. And while some may have issues with this, and yes he was an ass, as were Chaos, it was understandable. Chaos had seen what it had done to High, the self destructive path he went on, and at the time did not care who he dragged along with him. But you felt for both High and Millie, and the first 40% was heart wrenching and heart breaking but oh so worth it once High found out just how much Millie had given up for him. Now, I have heard some rumblings about the reasons Millie having left High not being good enough, but I went trough something similar myself, at an older more mature age, and still, it almost destroyed my marriage. I can totally see Millie, given all her and High had spent 3 years discussing and wanting, being totally unable to cope and know how to deal with it at her age and doing what she did.And while she did not move on relationship wise, she moved on in life, she had grown and matured, had a very successful business, a house she had worked on herself, but I can see her not being in a relationship, given why she forced High to walk away, her not starting a new relationship, given what she saw as her lack makes sense.I did get to say 40% and think, you know at this point, most authors would end the story, they are back together, surely that is all that there is, off they ride into the sunset....but this is KA, so we know she like to give us more. And more she did, and while the second half was not as much of an emotional roller coaster as the first half, I still loved it. It was them settling into life, the problems that can face families in that way.Oh, and the huge PLUS - Logan's ex was actually cool. No horrible psycho ex!Plus we have the storyline ARC that has been through all the Chaos series. And this is maybe why it is 4 stars and not 5. Seems like Chaos and the bad guy have spent the entire chaos series pushing each other back and forth and not much happening. Threats here and there, and I kind of forgot exactly what had happened in previous books and my worry here is that will all come to a head in the last chaos book, and quite frankly overshadow the romance, as this storyline ARC is building and building, and it has to explode, as opposed to just petering out. But I kind of just wish it would get done. But, I still loved reading Millie and Logan's story and cannot wait for more from this series.★Book Basics★Genre : - Cont. Could do better!
I usually love this author's books but she seems to be falling into the trap of not having much of an actually story. This story could have been wrapped up in about a quarter of this book but we then get endless naval gazing which I find rather boring. The only interesting part as far as I am concerned with the back story on what happened with High and Tack before Tack took over Chaos and what had happened to Black and the origin of the famous tattoo that all the members had. I wish that Kristen would go back to something like her earlier Fantasyland series which I loved and reread regularly. I also loved the Rock Chick series and again reread frequently. I don't know if this book has fallen into the trap of a mid-series tale as usually the first and the last in a series have much more action. All in all, not a book that I would reread.

best mc book ever, and filed with so much emotion as well
This book destroyed my soul and heart in the best way. I cannot believe this is the first ever book by this author for me to read, have i been living in a cave?! So the book - Millie is adorable and i got her from the first pages the going home and having a routine and the fear of change and going outside the comfort zone. But her relationship with High i did not get that. I got it through the flash backs and totally understood it then, but there is something that when you read it and the context in which it is revealed to you the reader that makes you adore Millie so much more and the love she has in her heart is beyond huge. The chemistry between her and High is explosive literally and physically when they collide. But with it in the present day comes hurt and anger between High and Millie. High my thoughts on him are conflicted i did not understand his anger until later on,but the way he and more importantly his friends in the MC club are to Millie is at one point disgusting. God i wanted to slap them in that bar!!!But my heart softened to him and his lovely alpha ways. This book is about young love and the passion that burns so brightly that you will burn yourself and your future happiness for someone else. That is love and desire which is what this book is but be warned you may want to throw things and will certainly need tissues. One of the best MC romance books i have ever read!!!!

Good and Okay!
This is High and Millies's story. This story started 20 years ago when High and Millie met, they got together and were happy for 3 years. But for some reason she broke up with him and has been "walking through fire" for him since. Millie decides that it is time for her to tell High the truth. So she goes to find him. She is not received well from the members that knew her 20 years ago and she takes a lot of insults. There is a sex scene between them and High decides that she will not walk away again, not until he has his fill of her then he will be the one to walk away from her. When High finds out why she has walked through fire for him he is uncertain that he can walk away from Millie.I always like KA's books but I had a little problem with this one. It is written well but for me I found some of the dialogue repetitive. Also the reason why Millie broke up with High for me I found it a little weak. For 20 years she carried this burden and although I understand why she did it, I still found it weak. To me, this was all about Millie and High and not so much about Club Business so when an incident did happen I was waiting for it because I was getting a little board with it.I did like it, but not as much as the others. The whole reason the club has problems is because of Tabby's ex-BFF. I think it has been going on a little too long now and I would like that part of the MC business to be done already. But, I do like Chaos MC.I recommend the series as it's a great series.

It's all about the second chances.....
Millie Cross and Logan "High" Judd fell in love when they were teenagers. Certain their path was set he was stunned and broken when she pushed him and then watched him walk away. For 20 years neither really lived but Logan did try to move on whilst Millie never did, she knew what she had given up and why. But when by chance they happen to meet neither Logan nor Chaos give her a chance to explain why, they gang together and pour more hurt on her, until she cannot take anymore. Spoiler: (view spoiler)When Logan realises what happened he is heart broken all over again as he has been treating Millie like a club girl out of spite. I love this book, I hated what Logan was doing to her, and as for what Hop did that was just a little bit too far.But the road to redemption ran clear into the future which is where they were heading
