A Birthday Gift for my Cousin's Son
This was a birthday gift for my cousin's youngest for his 6th birthday (he is now 11). He loved it. Nice gift or a youngster going through the truck and train stage.

Great Toys, Honestly
These train sets have been epic since I was a kid. They are definitely overpriced, but I don't think there are any better options for a simple kids train set.

Cuter Than Cute!
The Brio products and their trains and tracks are wonderful! These cattle and zoo cars with animals are cuter than cute! My grandsons love playing with them and naming the animals. There are instantly make believe stories around the animals and the trains, too. Brio products are well-made and durable. Hours of enjoyment!

Great Engine and Train Cars!
Up until now, we've had all Thomas engines and track. It's getting hard to find though and really lacks general train cars, so I decided to try out some of the Brio trains and accessories. This is perfect! My toddler loves taking the cow and horse in and out of the open cars. He's actually been playing with these more than his beloved Thomas engine. The two yellow cars are plastic but seem very sturdy. The wheels are a little bit wider than the Thomas engines, but they work fine on the Thomas track and actually seem to have fewer "derailments" than the Thomas engines. We will definitely be adding more Brio trains and accessories to our collection.

Excellent!
This is a very nice train set. Everything from the color scheme of the engine and cars to the detailing on the animals is wonderful, and it looks even better in person. It also pairs well with some of BRIO's older farm-based accessories, like the older-style cattle cars and the milk wagon. My only complaint is that the new cattle cars are entirely plastic. The previous generation of cattle cars had a wood base, and the well that the animals stood in were slotted in the wood. These are a single, molded plastic piece, and they are lighter and feel more cheaply made. But, they do have a fold-down plastic door on the side which is a nice touch. Still, I would have preferred a wooden base in the BRIO tradition. The train engine is mostly wood. It's painted with an extremely smooth, high-gloss finish that makes it look like plastic, but once you see it up close or have i your hands, you know you are holding a wooden engine. The paint finish on this is really very nice. Only the very front of the engine cab is plastic, for the detailing of the windows, etc.Note that this is one of BRIO's "tall" engines, even if it doesn't look like it. It will fit under overpasses just fine, but it won't fit inside the original tunnel, or any of the short-height tunnel accessories.I like the current animal style. The bodies are wood with painted detail, and the head and neck are molder plastic. They are cute, but are a hair wider than the previous generation animals so they don't fit in the older cattle cars. That's another "Why, BRIO, why?" decision that makes no sense to me, hence I knocked a star off.Still, this is a nice train set, and a worthy addition.
