I used this book as a complimentary book for my biochemistry class and it is great! Of all the biochemistry books I've seen, this one has the best pictures that show the metabolic pathways including ALL the details that go with them in a neat display. All chapters in this book start with a simple example of medical relevant topic that make the chapter more motivating to study.

The book isn't hard to read. It's detailed, and then it's not.It's more of a review book and if you're crammed for time, then it's the Go-To. For example, I would read Harper's then Devlin's, and one word or short phrase in Harper's has a long explanation in Devlin. Then you realize that some important concept was mentioned in Harper's, but you don't always get to see the true value or importance unless you already knew it. Hence, it's a review book. If you want to really learn something, you need a bigger book.The chapters are short, so at least you feel like you've accomplished something.
