My favorite Suda 51 game, and an underrated gem
Lollipop Chainsaw plays like an old school beat 'em up from a bygone era. This feels like it would have fit right in with the types of arcade beat 'em ups that were still around during the Dreamcast era. Don't expect that modern, new school, Bayonetta style combat from this game. It's too retro for that. The script is very entertaining. It's from James Gunn who is known for his work on movies like Super, Slither, and Dawn of the Dead. This may arguably make this game better than its Japanese original. There's plenty of funny dialog, clever references, and even a little fourth wall breaking. Some jokes are crude and juvenile, but they feel right in a game that isn't taking itself seriously and clearly doesn't expect you to take it seriously. The combat system is a bit rough around the edges, but gets more and more fun as you get more moves, upgrades, and abilities. Getting Sparkle Hunts is fun and addicting and will boost your stage rank. The game also finds lots of ways to break up the gameplay with fun mini-games and other surprises. This is a Suda game after all. Stage 4: Fulci Fun Center really stands out in particular. Some of the bosses are really hilarious and memorable as well. Again, what you'd expect from a Suda title. Some have criticized the game for sexual exploitation. In actuality, I enjoyed the way the game plays around with gender roles in a subversive way and I was impressed by the number of strong and dominant female characters in the story as well. The script is clever, with a certain self awareness to it and more layers than you'd initially think. Destrutoid covered this in detail on their site. The game's art style is bright, colorful, and original. Again, it brings to mind old school arcade games. The soundtrack is an excellent mix of great compositions from Mindless Self Indulgence's Jimmy Urine and Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame. It also includes of number of excellently used, licensed tracks from artists like Sleigh Bells, Toni Basil, Five Finger Death Punch, The Runaways and others. It's easily one of the best video game soundtracks I've ever heard and gives the game so much energy. Lastly, the game gets bonus points for referencing Evil Dead with the Ash Williams pre-order outfit, which many players will sadly never get to use if they buy the game now

Loved this game!
I'm a girl and I was looking for a kick-butt girl hack and slash game and that's just what I got. I littereally couldn't put it down! I have beat it 3 times and still will prob play it from time to time because there is still more to unlock on it. I love zombies but most of the zombie games out there are far too scary or gory for me to play, especially in the dark lol. But this one the zombies and characters you meet are funny and I wasn't scared at all. I will warn it does say some very potentially offensive things, but not often. I thought it was funny because I am not easily offended. In summation I would highly recommend this game bc it makes you laugh and is fun to hack up zombies with a chainsaw :) You unlock outfits, different moves, health upgrades and can choose different tracks to listen to when you play. On easy mode it is very easy to beat. I have beat it on Easy, Normal, and Hard. I haven't tried very hard mode yet. If you're not sure whether to buy, do what I did and YouTube it. This IS my favorite game so far and pray they come out with a second! :) Super fun to play!

Already hoping for a sequel
Lollipop Chainsaw is a wonderfully fun and quirky game. It has a hack and slash, arcade type feel to it and has fun for casual gamers all the way to the most competitive. I played through my first time on Easy Mode which is essentially to see the story of the game or for those who want to buff up on their zombie hunting before hitting up a higher difficulty. There are leaderboards to compete and compare scores worldwide which gives this game a lot of high replay value. There are lots of cool unlockables such as MP3s to listen to ingame for your own soundtrack, and many different outfits to customize your Juliet. Part of the fun is buying different combos and abilities using the medals you collect to make your combat experience your own. I could see this as a great game to play with friends even though there is no multiplayer mode, it would be viable to hand off the controller to a buddy between stages to see who could get a higher score. The boss fights are the shining star of this game, each having their own theme based on a genre of music with unique and fun mechanics. I also enjoyed interactive parts of combat and the environment such as having to push a button at just the right time to dodge an obstacle or shake off a zombie. If I had to say one negative thing about the game since nothing is ever exactly perfect, I felt like the Chainsaw Blaster gun was a little bit clumsy to use but I also don't play first person shooters so felt that may have been what held me back there. There's hours and hours of entertainment in this one, don't hesitate to pick up a copy, I promise you'll be a fan of Juliet for life.

Game arrived the next day after ordering it, secure package and the game felt brand new. The game itself is really fun! I am sure horror, anime and zombie fans will really enjoy it.
