Beautiful results!!!
I've started dibblin and dabbling with drawing portraits using graphite and charcoal. It got a little messy so I did some research on what I could use to prevent smudging....I tried this stuff. I sprayed 4 coats. I loved the results and so did my sister (the portrait was for her)

Good for every thing except dry pastels
This stops my artwork from being smudged, however for dry pastels it is poor. It does not let me work remain crisp and the colors get darker that they are to be. I don’t not like that

Gallery series fixative is a final/workable fixative that works great
I been using this stuff for the past few weeks now and so far its performing better then the regular krylon workable fixative. With the krylon workable fixative, each time i used it i kept either getting a dusty gray layer on top that would just wipe off and the drawing would not be fixed to the paper which took way too many coats to do or too much fixative would end up the paper not allowing me to draw on top of it anymore. The gallery series fixative doesn't have either of those problems for me. Takes very little layers to fix it to the paper and that when using thin/light coats.Though i would say, the workable part of this, you should be careful because if you spray too much it will turn into a final fixative. You probably wont get many more drawing layers down with this also unlike a regular workable fixative. i would say maybe two or three layers of drawing. If you need a lot of workable layers then you may want to play it safe and use a plain workable fixative.the directions say:for a workable fixative, apply VERY light coats for a workable protectionfor a final fixative, apply just a several light coats for a final protections

Darkens pastel work
I like this spray for simple watercolor pieces, charcoal, and watercolor/dry media pieces. Just be careful not too pool it and let it dry longer than you think is necessary. I haven't tried it on more detailed watercolor pieces.I don't like it for soft pastel. It darkens work far too much. It needs 5-10 layers, depending on pastel layers and texture, but that happens with Sennelier also. But Sennelier is tougher coverage, at least my oil pastel spray is. I will be trying their dry pastel version next.Be sure to wear a mask and spray outside, but I figure that's obvious. I also live in windy Wyoming and place my work in a shoe box to spray, propping the lid open a bit for airflow.

Krylon Gallery Fixative
Krylon Gallery Fixative was used on a charcoal drawing. I did some research & it came down to this one. Haven't used a fixative before as this was my first charcoal piece. So far it "fixed" my drawing after several applications, about 3 light coats in each 4 directions. Then did another series of 3 light coats for two more times. I worried that a heavy application might may the drawing darker. Remember to spray your first spray on something else than your artwork to ensure the nozzle sprays like a mist. The nozzle worked great & did not clump up at all. Would highly recommend this product. The smell as with any product such as this, you do want to have good ventilation.

Does not alter color, light reflection or light refraction in any way
Great product! Does not alter color, light reflection or light refraction in any way. I have used it with graphite drawings, colored pencil (both wax and oil based), pastels and charcoal without any problem. It says it can be used as a workable fixative, but it's really best for the final protection. Krylon does have a product called "Workable Fixatif (1306)", and I would definitely recommend that over this product for a workable fixative.A warning to those sensitive to odors or who get headaches: this product does have a very strong, noxious odor, so definitely go outside.

great product
i’m getting into mixed media and altered books, and art journals. In the process of learning i’ve had success and fails with products. this was a success! just what I needed to seal my art done in regular ink, charcoal or pencil - which previously would get smeared to the point of ruined with a top coat. nice smooth sheen. and delivered right to my door, a big plus since i live in rural area 40 minutes from a proper art supply store.
