I got this after hearing part of a track requested by Nick Clegg on Desert Island discs. The woman has a terrific voice. I can't understand a word of what she says as it's sung in a creole dialect of Portuguese spoken on Cape Verde, but the emotion is all in there. Cesaria also has the benefit of a very classy backing band, after my third or fourth listen I began to take in some of their playing, and I thought it was first rate.It's gentle stuff that I've seen described elsewhere as a 'chill out' which I think is a bit unfair. It *is* music that you can sit and let it wash around you.Highly recommended

I recommend this as an introduction to the works/singing of Cesaria. She has an amazingly expressive voice and once you have heard this CD I am sure you will be hooked.This CD was recommended to me and I have no regrets in buying this from Amazon Marketplace. Stromae recorded a track (Ave Cesaria on the album Racine Carre ) as an homage to her singing.It is a bargain!

Wonderful. recording. The serene rhythmic voice of Cesaria cannot be matched. Many songs with differing rhythms , great musicianship from her accompanying players. If you like latin style music and you haven't heard of her before, try it.
