Ryobi 2200-Watt Digital Inverter Generator RYI2200

I used this generator sometimes every day, sometimes once a week for over 3 years. It’s not as good as a Honda, but it will last if you take care of it.It normally takes more than one pull to start it. The reason I think is that gas tank outlet is lower than the carburetor inlet & it depends on a vacuum pump to pull the gas uphill.I think the stock Chinese torch spark plug is not very good. I replaced it with a NGK CR7HSA & gapped it to .024-.028. I know someone who returned this generator, but didn’t change the plug.During the 3 years I replaced little things & did little things:1. Replaced: Spark plugs many times, pull cord once, inline fuel probably twice2. Cleaned: air filter many times, exhaust screen once, carburetor twice.3. Replaced oil many times with 12 fluid ounces of 10-30W for extreme use or hot climates. I added a squirt of Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer.4. I used non-ethanol gas & for extra cleaning added 3 little capfuls of Sea Foam per 2.5 gallons of gas. My mechanic told me that you don’t have to use non-ethanol gas if you use Sea Foam. I heard also that Gum Out gas treatment is better. I also use Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer per the instructions.5. If you don’t use your generator often I would recommend draining the float bowl of the carburetor by turning a screw next to a clear hose that drains the fuel.After 3 years it finally wouldn’t start. I called the Ryobi help line & asked if they sell new carburetors. Ryobi doesn’t, they gave me a number to call, Gardner Inc. at 614.456.4000.I replaced the carb & air filter & it works again.After I replaced the carb I now use an hour timer. After every 100 hours I plan to replace the oil. I hope it will last another 3 years. Gardner Inc. seems to have an extensive part list so I could possibly keep it running for a long time.

I bought this generator a couple of years ago when the price was lower for outings in the desert. It does everything, lighting, charging, air compressor, heating, can use my ham radio gear with quiet running. Although it's a bit heavy, it can be pulled with a built in handle, but I keep it on the small pickup. Starts easy if you start it at least once a month. It is pretty, no nonsense design gives you a warm fuzzy feeling...

Generator worked good for a year. I bought it April 2017. I have used it several times and all was well until I changed the oil (Aug2018). Today I changed the oil and started it up and noticed with the engine cover off that fuel was spilling out of the top of the engine somewhere around the carburetor. Because I ran it out of fuel to store it, the seals dried out and leaked fuel the first time I started it back up. The next day the seals rehydrated and the engin is back to working as normal!!!

Conversation quiet is correct. You can talk over it without too much trouble, but the machine still makes some noise. Idle mode is even quieter. Started easily right out of the box and the maintenance recommendations are easy to follow. I plan to start mine monthly to keep it running. Having trouble finding the parallel connector to link two together. This company who shipped it was INCREDIBLE. They delivered (with free shipping) two weeks before it was scheduled to arrive.

It works great! I just wish the wheels were a little bigger for all terrain use.

it was not new a week it did not work

Although i did not buy this generator through Amazon, I wanted to write a review since it has been the mvp of my current situation.At the time of this review, I live in Puerto Rico and we have been hit by 2 Hurricanes Irma and Maria. This generator has been on 20 hours a day (1 week for Irma) and 3 straight weeks for Maria. This review is directed more for emergencies and less for power tools and such.I currently have a Fridge, 3 fans, 4-5 Light bulbs, a 47 inch tv, Cel phones and portable gaming consoles charges around the clock. I was also able to connect a washing machine with everything else off.This machine for it's size and weight deliver so much value. Also the fact that its so quiet has helped with not having neighbors disturbed by the fact that its on all day.Last thing, I'm getting 7-10 hours of use per tank (1 gallon tank) in idle mode. As a comparison, other Generators owned by my family members, although might pack more energy and supply more stuff spend 5 gallons every 8 hours. In yhe long run I personally prefer the savings. Even planning on buying a second one just for the parallel kit.Will recommend to everyone I know.
