An Ant-Man's Life (Review #457)
I picked up the first issue of this series in store when it first came out and saw some potential in it. With the second issue I was hooked and the third after that was even better. Then Covid-19 happened and the series was put on an extended hiatus and whether the rest of the series ever ended up being released I never could find out. I'm glad that the series has now been collected fully by paperback so I can finish the story. Scott Lang's world is turned upside down after he stumbles upon an uprising of hive-minded intelligent insects intent on crushing humanity. The thing I like most about Zeb Wells' story is that he gives a bit of credit to a character who has been treated as a joke for a long time now. The whole book has a great sarcastic wit to it that makes it a fun read. The choice of what kind of villains to use in it was great, making a rather fitting match for the Ant-Man to face. I'm also incredibly happy for the inclusion of Cassie Lang as Stinger, as I really enjoy that father/daughter relationship. Dylan Burnett through his artwork brings Wells' script to life rather decently. I especially like the way he draws the various insects necessitated by the story. This volume stands as a solid and really enjoyable story centered on this character and if you are a fan I expect you'll enjoy it too.5/5
