What is an aerial hoop? The Aerial Hoop, also known as “Lyra”, is a metal apparatus (steel or aluminium) that looks like a suspended hula-hoop. Aerial hoops are usually available in single point and double point configurations. Selecting an Aerial Hoop our measurements are taken from the inner diameter instead of outer, which enables you to have the correct distance you need from your head to the upper bar. Properly sizing an aerial hoop or Lyra comes down to personal preference, and what you are comfortable with. A method of selecting an aerial hoop is to sit in a chair, measure from the seat of the chair to the top of the head, and add 2 inches. The number of points your aerial hoop has will depend on how you are going to use it, what effect you are after and what you are comfortable with. The following is a list of just a few things you might want to take into account when choosing your aerial hoop: Double point hoops allow less overall movement, they also allow for an extra range of poses to be performed on the top bar. However, due to the method of rigging they do take up more vertical space. Single point hoops tend to rotate a lot more, however they allow for you to rig in smaller spaced areas. Double point hoops allow you to perform moves that tip forward and back with a smaller amount of lateral movement. Single point allows the hoop to rotate so additional moves can be performed.

Love it!
This is the first lyra I’ve owned and it definitely does the job! Safety isn’t a worry, this bad boy is very sturdy. The bar is a bit thicker than I’m used to but regardless it still works. I definitely recommend wrapping this guy though, two days of play and my hands are shredded. It’s worth it though! Also, I’m 5 foot 2 and got a 35 in hoop (for reference).

Quality is great, metal is too thick for my preference
I got the single point lyra in 33" (though when I measured the inside it is actually 34"). I am mostly happy with everything, the only thing that I didn't like was the metal thickness. It is thicker than the lyras I am used to using and this causes my hands to fatigue much faster. Grips are a littler harder as well and any type of leg hang is more challenging with the thickness. The metal thickness measurement was not in the product description so this was something I didn't know beforehand and it was a surprise. For anyone who doesn't have a thickness preference or maybe wants thicker metal in their hands this will be great! All the equipment that came with the hoop is super good quality too.

My daughter loves it
My daughter is so happy with her very own hoop. We love it and my husband said he only needed to buy a couple things to hang it safely for her.

and assembly was easy to figure out without instructions
This is my first Lyra hoop , I'm a just starting out, the measurements were on point, and assembly was easy to figure out without instructions . I plan on taking her for a spin tonight under the stars!

Made in China- not confident in quality.
Made in China. Seems cheaply made and not a true circle. Tabs seem a bit far apart for each other. I recommend buying from legit metal workers on Etsy for the same price or slightly less.

Good lyra!
Works well for home practice. The diameter of the bar is larger than I'm used to, but I think that helps reduce the pressure on my bruises after practicing the same move over and over again. The thickness of the metal does make leg hangs and hand holds a little harder, but I like to think it helps condition me for a tighter grip when I get onto a thinner lyra in class. Overall, very satisfied!
