Do you really need a purpose built tungsten, well probably not.  BUT this tool sure makes life easier. The grinder puts a perfect point on a tungsten every time and it does so very quickly. Although it is a bit pricey it does what it's supposed to do flawlessly.

Nice compact unit but angle of tungsten to wheel is limited. Cannot achieve 45 degree angle to wheel. Spiral pattern on tungsten. I will probably mill the head and improve it immensely voided the warranty for proper angle.

The more I use this device the more I love it. It is easy to make consistently good points on your tungsten. I would never go back to the old bench grinder.
