At first when I saw this was copyrighted in 2000, I thought wow, that is old. And it is. But it is still an interesting book that covers a lot of territory. But he is honest in saying it is not meant to be a comprehensive history. Rather things that he felt were interesting and some which were personal.I wonder what an updated book would be like? Twice as big, probably

This could sound like a "techy" book, but is surprisingly interesting about how the internet was created and is written in a very accessible style even for people who are not computer scientists!
