Didn't realise this was not a complete novel
Interesting story, but a sampler to another book which I still have not found. It seems I'll need to research the author and his books to find it.

Sample of a different book
Is not an entire novel but the first few chapters of a different book. Liked the part that I read.

Confusing. Not a book.
I was expecting a complete novel. I got only pieces of several, with no clue as to how they fit together. I'm glad this was free; I am taking it off my Kindle entirely. A complete waste of time.

What book??
Did I miss something, was this just a sample of a recently published book. Glad it was free and based on the sample I will not be purchasing the book. Didn't understand any of it.

Excruciating Extracts
I mistakenly thought I was to read a complete book. Belatedly when it finished after less than 50 pages I discovered it to be some sort of a preview with extracts from a series of novels by Oscar de Muriel featuring Inspector Ian Frey and Detective ‘Nine-Tails’ McGray. The first story is set in Victorian England describing a visit by Frey to his father’s estate for a Christmas stag hunting where there is a family falling-out. The second goes back to the seventeenth century with an excruciating account of execution of witches at Pendle Lancashire, and then a return to a Victorian murder case for Frey and McGray. This latter story is only 3 chapters. All is macabre – all is excruciating. For me there is no temptation to read further, and on the basis of three extracts in ‘The Hunt’ there is nothing worthy of any more than a 1-star rating.

At 50 pages for two books this is just an excerpt
At 50 pages for two books this is just an excerpt really and would have been quite cross if I had bought it. The first short book, which was a few chapters from the longer version was a bit plodding but intriguing nonetheless, however I disagreed with other reviewers as I found the few chapters of the second book a bit boring. I wouldn't be in a hurry to read any of his long books.

Great books
This was great just wished it had been a new complete book, the two characters in these books are brilliant and sometimes quite entertaining I cannot wait for the next book.

A filler
Fills the gap between books 1 and 2, this is a very short novella dealing with the time between the first 2 books. I must say this is an excellent series, darkly funny.
