Good R rating
Lovely Mat and looks to be well made.......It is a shame the pump bag is not included with the mat given the price point.Very warm and comfortable.

A-ok
Got this for my son for his scout camp, and it does the trick. It scrunches down pretty small for packing.

Review after 8 months and multiple use cases
Short version: this is the best Therm-a-Rest version out there. I know there are tons of variations with different R values, different sizes etc... but my recommendation is to get this oneLong list of Pros:- I'm 6 feet 3 (1.92m) and finding an adequate air mattress for my size is hard ! The XL works perfectly- this R value has improved my camping life dramatically - I am less cold at night, and I can feel the difference.- it's fairly slim but feels thick enough that you don't touch the ground, or the pebbles etc...- perfect for car camping: I put it under my 3inch memory foam mattress, and I sleep like a baby on the side or on the back.- it packs pretty small but it's always a bit hard to get all the air out and pack it back into the bagCons:- I don't see any, it's really the best combination of price point, R value , thickness and size.

Best sleeping pad I've ever used
I've used one of the classic foam Therm-a-Rest pads for my entire life but now that I'm getting a bit older I decided to splurge on a nicer camping pad. I like this one because it's small enough for backpacking and yet thick enough for winter camping and comfortable enough that it can be used as an air mattress if someone needs to crash on the floor if you have a lot of people over. When the pad is properly inflated, I cannot feel the surface below, even when sleeping on a solid wooden floor. I'm 6'2" and my entire sleeping bag fits on the pad, which particularly critical when snow camping.I would (and Therm-a-Rest does) advise against using these inflatable pads without some sort of protective layer (a tarp or just your tent would be fine) to protect from sharp objects. These pads are very durable, however they ARE inflatable, so rubbing them up against sharp or abrasive objects will obviously shorten the lifespan. You also don't want to use these inflatable pads directly on snow, as they will (very slowly) wick moisture up to your sleeping bag, especially if it isn't super cold (like if you're in a snow cave).I believe Therm-a-Rest sells even thicker inflatable pads but I can't imagine that being necessary unless you're looking for an actual air mattress. This the first inflatable Therm-a-Rest that I have personally purchased, however I have used dozens and my friends have cumulatively owned dozens (hundreds?) over the years. This is the nicest one I have used so far; you are buying a quality product here.
