Women's Jersey Sleeveless Empire-Waist Midi Dress

I so wanted this dress to work and it so didn't. The fabric is lovely and soft, the blue color is the perfectly muted shade of a stormy sky. It is lovely. until I put it on. For reference, I am tall (5'11") and slightly (and i mean slightly) pear shaped, and it is totally wrong for this body type. The neckline is way too deep and the shoulder straps are spaced too wide and slip off. There is no way to wear a bra under it - it is so low cut that all of them showed. The XL which is my usual size, bagged under the arms and the shoulders fell off - the top was way too loose to wear. And I have pretty broad shoulders - so broad they are usually a problem with women's clothing. This was too wide for even me. So I tried a large - the top fit okay, but the waist was still unflatteringly high - I looked pregnant, and it was unflatteringly tight around the hips, clinging to every lump. Both sizes were returned, and my quest for the perfect easy casual summer dress that covers my knees continues......

This is a simple modest dress. It’s basic enough to dress it up or down with your accessories so it’s good for wide range of people with different style.I normally wear a size L or XL in most clothes and got this in a M and it fit perfect - so pay attention to what you order you may want to size down.The material is very soft and not too thin so you can’t see through it. The straps are quite far out, like the sit on the edge of your shoulder so they can slip off a little easy and it was a little hard to find a bra to wear with it to make the bra not show since the dress straps are far apart.But overall this is a decent basic dress that would be easily added to anyone’s wardrobe and can be worn to a lot of different occasions based on how you accessorize it.

Love the soft material! Not a huge fan of the color I got but I’m keeping it anyway.I’m 5’3, 160 lbs. the dress hugs my body a little but it’s just right.I’m thinking you can dress this up or down.

This is a beautiful dress. I bought the "small" in caramel, which is a gorgeous, soft, organic looking hue. It fits me perfectly -- I'm 5'6" and weigh 136 pounds, and usually wear a medium, so I'd say these run a bit small. The fabric is heavy enough to be able to wear this outside the house, and it's very soft and drapey. The waist is not exactly an empire waist; I'd say it's a little higher than my natural waistline, but barely so. My only concern is that the straps are a bit wider apart then any of my bra straps, so for now I'll be wearing this with a cropped cardigan. This is a versatile piece -- it can be a comfy around-the-house dress, or, dressed up to be good enough for going to a decent restaurant. For the price it's an excellent deal.

I am 5’6”, 145 lbs, dress/pants size 6-8, bra size 34B. My normal size is M, but I ordered S for a more fitted chest and waist.Fit: Technically, it fit just fine. Size S was appropriate for my smaller chest. Has a small band to accentuate the waist, and it hit my natural waist just right. But I’m more of a M on bottom, and I felt like the bottom part of the dress touched me too much.Material: It’s made of that soft, heavy, slinky-slanky jersey material that I’ve come to associate with Daily Ritual. It hangs well and is still breathable. However, it does show the shape of whatever it touches. I would usually wear a pair of athletic-type bike shorts with some structure and a phone pocket, but with this dress, I would probably need a smoother pair of slip shorts.Color: Caramel. I LOVE this color. It makes me feel like a sexy terra cotta pot with a string of pearls succulent for hair. Somehow it’s both bright orange and earthy neutral. I’m returning this dress, but I’ll be looking for another one I can order in this color.Quality: Great! As usual for Daily Ritual. I imagine it would be a good wash and wear staple.Overall, I wish I loved this dress on me. If you typically wear the same general size on top and bottom, this may be a great dress for you!

I am generally a size 14-16 5;5 and 165 lbs. So I was debating between large and extra large. I got the extra large, but it fit like a 3X. I am going to actually reorder in a medium because I do like the look and feel of the dress. Since I already washed it, I am not going to try to return, I will find someone to give it to.It is really really huge.Order a size smaller than you would normally!

Very comfortable and cute. Lovely cut and lovely materiel. Being an inverted triangle body shape I need dresses with slightly wider shoulder straps than this dress has but with a shawl it will be fine..

I would love to have returned this dress, but the return window closed the day before I realized it's a piece of trash. I washed it once and did not get the chance to wear it (I did follow the instructions on the laundering, yes) until recently, and then it turned out the top no longer fits. The straps are both too stretchy and not stretchy enough, so the bodice of the dress slides down continuously while you wear it until your bra/boobs are hanging out as the straps stretch out because there's not enough stretch to hold them up but there's too much stretch for the fabric portion to do the job. I'm so upset I spent $30 on this and it's unwearable. Don't do it. This dress is worthless.

Hi guys! I got an XXL in Caramel. The band of elastic at the tummy is a little thicker than I thought or is pictured.. I’m happy it has pockets. I would say it doesn’t hide ALL of the lumps and bumps, particularly around the BOOTAY, (thuds 4 stars) but overall wouldn’t mind wheeling this out in summer as a cooler option! 👍 (I’m 5”9 and 130kg so theres that!)

I love this dress! I wanted a midi length black dress to wear in the summer (I have a UV allergy which turns me into a summer goth). Even though I'm only 5ft2in this dress is a really nice length, hitting just below my knees. Looks super cute with sandals or trainers. Nice comfy stretchy fabric and it has pockets!The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the fabric has gone a bit bobbly after one wear.

This is a lovely dress. Nice material and flattering fit. I can really see it only fitting women with substantial breasts - mine are moderate and the straps are too long so the dress slips down at the front. I like the dress so much though as the rest of the fit is good and the colour is great that I'll shorten the straps myself.

Overal for the price it is fairly good quality and soft fabric, first wash seems to have held well. Only 4stars though as a little saggy over the bust (I’m size 8-10, 34B bust for reference And I bought size S) and the shoulder straps slip a little However this improves with a T-shirt worn underneath dress
